I have a mkv file with a subtitle in it and want to convert to mp4. I tried Super but the subtitles don't show. This is so i can play it on my psp if that helps. So, how do I go about doing this?

PSP's as I understand it don't support ttext subs, so you would need to hard encode the subs. Super should be able to do that though and you would probably need to re-encode anyway.

No idea. Never used it. It does support mencoder for encoding though, but I guess it uses ffmpeg for mp4 output? ffmpeg does't support subs; mencoder does. mencoder really isn't the best for hardsubbing anyway. Super also has an option to use directshow for input though right? If it playsback with subs via directshow, then it should also convert with them. Otherwise you could try AVISynth (probably uses it anyway) to frameserve.
