Was in process of burning my very first DVD movie.

    Program=Nero.

I noticed a picture of what I was burning was flashing on the screen. I also noticed the movie was going to take 2 hours to burn.

Is that because of the picture appearing onscreen as I burn?

Can I put this ona setting where the picture does not play onscreen, but the burning is speeded up?

I think he/she may be talking about nero recode. If thats the case, depending on the length of the movie, and the amount of compression, system specs etc.2 hours is not too far out of line.

    hi there

i just used DivxToDvd to change n AVI the avi was 350meg it took 42 mins to convert it! (without burning i just tryed the vob) burning is 14mins for me so add that 58 mins! so i would imagine that a 700meg avi would take about 2 hours?

the lip sync is spot on its brilliant!

i am going to try mainconcept next and dvd santa i may try to? leave nero till last....

I have tried them all DivX to DVD is the best and quickest.. Make sure you get there latest update though because that is the last freeware version they will produce. So download it and keep it somewhere safe!!! :)

As stated earlier DivXtoDVD seemed to do the best. I believe it is because they kept it simple. I have never tried canopus procoder so when you do let me know how it is would ya?

    Thanks,

Mainconcepts is the better encoder IMO.
But if your looking for sheer simplicity, and speed, you cant beat divxtodvd.
Ive used TMPGEnc mpeg encoder,Mainconcepts, cinemacraft encoder(coupled with dvd rebuilder),divxtodvd, and nero vision express, all have uses at one time, or another.
I havent tried canopus procoder either.

    hi

the mpeg2 that come from mainconcept was very good quailty, alot better than divxtodvd, but the mpeg2 still needs converting again to vobs etc...

correct me if i'm wrong but there isnt an app to make vobs without encoding again is there? as i've heard say some do rename the mpeg2 to vob extension and burn??????

also i will try canopus tomorrow so will let you know...

have you tryed cucusoft avi convertor yet?

Another thing you could try to speed up the burnign process (thats what you asked about right?) take out any of the languages and subtitles that you do not need. I don't need spanish or french on any of my discs since I live in America and only need to hear ENGLISH. Sorry to get on a rant, but if I wanted to hear spanish I would go to mexico or Jersey City, and if I wanted to hear a movie in french I would go to Canada-eh......
