What is this program? What does it do? I am assuming it is HP crap but I haven't been able to even find out what it does.

Its not spyware. It comes on all brand new HP & Compaq computers. The only mention of it is in an article about using msconfig to turn off programs at start up.

I guess after rereading the stuff I figured it out. First it "may" hide so programs from showing in Add/Remove Programs. And it "may" hide some programs from showing in System Configuration Utility. And finally I found this...

"The HP Boot Optimizer intelligently and dynamically launches software during startup, based on available resources, to improve startup performance."

I think I will get rid of it.

well maybe you should, but it depends on what you normaly do.

Add/Remove Programs tends to hide stuff anyway so there isnt much diference. i just use ccleaner cus it shows everything.

and iam sure there is a run command for system config its just i cant remember it :p

realy it makes stuff faster from that so i would leave it alone.

Anyone know why this program might be stopping me from installing a game, and how I would stop it from doing so? I've never had a problem with it before, or even knew it existed, and Microsoft won't tell me anything about it, either.
