howdy all. i've been burning SL successfully with deepburner, now using imgburn for DL full size backups. Had problems right away, many searches resulted in a few things:
    - updated my burner firmware successfully
    - sick and tired of seeing 'use better media' - oh, um. well, it worked actually. memorex no worky, verbatim worky good. imagine that.
    - DMA settings - set correctly to dma if available (however i have two primary ide, no secondary, not sure if that means anything).
First backup worked like a charm with the verbatim dl media - since then though, i keep getting failed to write sectors error at different points with different content backups. here's the log from last attempt:

There is a thread on this title already.

Burning too fast? According to those discs 2.4x is max.

    What did you rip with?

good morning early risers - updated imgburn, and uninstalled the two primary ide controllers; both came back up in turn as still Primary, and both still have DMA set as opposed to PIO. fyi ripped with one-step ripit4me and dvdencryptor to create folders. used imgburn to build mds/iso and to write. I'll try again, thanks - still confused on the 2 primary ide and no secondary........

Ditch R4M as it's not getting support anymore for newer movies and try DVDFab HD Decrypter for free.

    http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

    Rip, then burn.

Update and thanks to Rotary, Loco and 7th.
I've successfully burned without error a number of DLs.
For anyone searching on this error, here's a review of fixes:

    1. upgraded to Verbatim media - just do it, toss the memorex.
    2. upgraded burner firmware
    3. uninstalled and reinstalled IDE controllers (i still have 2 primary IDE channels and zero secondary, but it works so what can i say)
    4. made sure IDE controllers transfer mode was set to 'DMA if available'
    5. upgraded to latest version of imgburn.
    6. in imgburn, since my media was 2.4x, i had trouble with selecting AUTO, so instead just picked burn at 2.4x. Worked fine.

Detailed instructions on steps 3 and 4 are easily found by searching AD site.
    Brilliant!
