Is DVD Back-up Illegal in the U.S

    Is DVD Backup illegal in the U.S or is it only illegal to sell for profit? I have been trying to figure this out for a while.

    for profit, if for backup you wouldn't be able to buy dvd burner & software as they would be illegal too

    if all you are doing is backups no problem, it is when you sell the copied cd/dvd disks that the authorities come down on you like crime busters. you can give away free(maybe???) but you can't sell!!
