I have a macbook pro and I find it a hassle to have to transfer my music to my macbook from my pc whenever i get something new. Is there any way I could stream my music from my pc instead without using iTunes?

Of course there is! All you need to do is set up the machines for file sharing on your home network (assuming you have a home network). Allow them to talk to each other (so to speak) and you can listen to music on your Mac from your PC. I get the feeling you already knew this.
