    Hello All,
I need to find out what version M$ Dash and kernel my box has. Can this be done without powering it on? As mine will not. I do know it is a version 1.6 box and has played halo 2. Thanks

im afraid that you will need to power it on.
If im correct, you can hotswap your xbox hard drive and find out what kernel and dash you have by looking in the C drive and on the folder that says xboxdashdata 5380 or something like that.

Thanks for your help. Mine said "xboxdashdata.185ead00". I was able to restore it to the factory condition and look it up through the M$ dash.

    Thanks
