HELP! This drive has been fine, i can see it on my pc, but can't access it out of NOWHERE! I get an I/O error. just defragged my system, everything was peachy. This is just a slave/storage drive.
Download the hard disc utility from seagate and run it http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...toid=15c04a3cdde5c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD
I replied to this thread, but for whatever reason it hasn't appeared. Standard procedure is 1. different USB port 2. Different USB cable 3. Running the hard disk internally. If 1 and 2 fail but 3 works, the enclosure might be knackered, if all three fail the drive might be the problem.
Thanks, going to try the utility. I've switched ports, etc. Not the cable, only because I don't have one handy. If this doesn't work....any suggestions for data recovery? I'd like to rescue everything if possible, then try to reformat the drive after everything is salvaged.
