I followed the guide and when i get to environmental settings it doesnt have the external tool tab it has the aufio engine tab. There lke the same so when i select toolame under Mpeg-1 audio layer 2 encoder
and ssrc under sample frewuencey vonverter and then press start it says ssrc.exe cannot be used as an external encoder. Does anyone no what to do.

in that guide the author is using an older version of tmpgenc, thats why the screen caps look a bit different.

this is how it should look:. http://img67.exs.cx/img67/7913/tmpgenc0rp.jpg (image was too big to post here)

if youve set it up like that then your good to go.

you'll only get that error message if your setting ssrc.exe as the external mpeg-1 audio layer II encoder(i just tested it then).

set toolame.exe as the mpeg-1 audio layer II encoder and set ssrc.exe as the sampling frequency convertor just like it shows you in my screen cap.

ok well its all good my end....as i said i only get that error when i set ssrc.exe as the external mp2 encoder....so im at a loss on that one.

anyways instead of trying to figure out the problem, just use another audio converter like mpeg2vcr:. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/mpeg2vcr.cfm

this guide will tell you how to convert 44.1khz vcd audio to 48khz dvd audio(read step 2 pt.2):. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/svcd_to_dvdr_from_img.cfm

any probs, you know where to ask ;)

how do i get to the audio encoder screen

  19. Mick69

    Mick69 Guest

ok here we go, step by step with screen caps:.
    1. goto file and open your mpeg

    2. then goto save http://img183.exs.cx/img183/9994/mpeg2vcr16at.jpg

    3. now click on the audio tab http://img195.exs.cx/img195/1980/mpeg2vcr21hk.jpg

    4. for 'sample rate' set it to 48.0khz and for 'bitrate' set it to 384kbps and leave layer set as 'II' then press ok. http://img195.exs.cx/img195/3084/mpeg2vcr37xt.jpg

    5. now give your output file a name and make sure that 'MPEG-1 system stream(audio + video multiplexed)' is selected and then click save. http://img141.exs.cx/img141/2494/mpeg2vcr43cv.jpg

after its done converting you'll have a mpeg-1 video file ready to be authored and burnt to dvd.
