if it ALWAYS fails to burn then probably the burning laser is bad and drive needs to be replaced. Do you have another pc to put the drive in to check? A friend? Somebody?

    Hi.

I'll just start out by stating that Matshita/Panasonic drives are crap for the most part. That said, the CD media you're using is not of very good quality and may be accounting for the power calibration errors. The same error can also be caused by out of date firmware and hardware failure.

I assume this laptop OEM burner came with the system, so you'll have to look for a firmware update on the computer vendor's support site.

Try using some different CD media. Try Verbatim.

I noticed a burn speed of 4X. Was this a CDRW disk or a CDR disk. I'm guessing CDRW given the slow speed. Try a CDR instead.

Have you tried burning a CD with WinXPs built in burner or any of the music services burners?

    Can you burn DVDs?

    hey garmoon
after alot of testing and trying new softwares the Sonic recordnow works half of the times i mean when i burn the files to a CD it would stop and gives me a n error but then it asks if i wanted to burn the same project again and when i put a new blank cd it works
however nero never complete the burning process
"Do you have another pc to put the drive in to check? A friend? Somebody?"
yea i have another pc but i dont know how to remove the drive from the notebook "Toshiba Satalite A100"

p.s i lost more than 20 new blank cds so am getting some re-writable 1ns
    thanks anyway
