After searching the forums for days, burning coasters, and trying fixes and solutions...I'm finally going to post this and hope someone can help. I've tried just about every burn program out there and they all fail. So I believe this is a settings or hardware problem. I have been succesful with one DVD and that was before I installed my USB 2.0 card. I'm almost to the point of returning this thing. Why don't you try different media. Surely in looking thrrough all the other posts you must have seen something about the use of these discs: Get Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Next, update your Nero... Your Recode... Current Version is 2.5.2.0 Your Burning ROM: Current version: 7.8.5.0 At some point you should add more memory. You have enough to do the job but barely: Make sure you have all unneeded applications disabled/turned off. Check this in your task manager. You should edit your post to remove your Nero serial number: See if the media change helps. This is most likely the cause. As far as your usb adapter goes. Just make sure the thing is installed correctly. These things either work or they don't. Your log didn't indicate a problem with it.
I noticed that this is Nero Essentials you are using... I'm not all that sure it can actually burn a DVD. It may need the Nero DVD-Video plug-in: http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/DVD_Video_Plug_In.html What other burning programs do you have. You may want to try something else.
Just to confirm what Fasfrank has said, your copy of Nero is one of the "buggy" versions....I would do this uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this version 7.5.9.0 from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/
Alright...I updated my Nero and tried using Verbatim DVD+R. I thought it was working because it went about twice as long as before. Here is the error log from this one. You need to upgrade from Nero essentials I think. It looks like it tried to write but it failed. I can't be certain but you may be missing the plug-in. Try ImgBurn and see if that will work. That does require an ISO type file so you have to set Recode to "Image Recorder" for the target. Make a folder on your desktop and name it "Recode_Image" or whatever you like. Recode will create an .nrg file which ImgBurn can accept. ImgBurn is an excellent burning program (and free). So if it works when Nero does not, I'd suspect you are missing the DVD-Video plug-in.
Well I have tried different software and media and I still have no luck. It's not an encryption problem because the disc starts to write-around 3-5% and then fails the burning process. I've found a few threads that deal with the same problem, but they did not produce a solution. Any one have any other ideas?? Thanks for your help!
If you tried other programs, ImgBurn, etc, and they all failed to write to good media, then this indicates a hardware problem. Probably your USB 2.0 card. Possibly your burner. The USB card was your first guess and I have to go with that at this point. I'd try removing it and reinstalling, make sure you have the drivers correctly installed. Contact the manufacturer and see if they have any suggestions.
