I am backing up a DVD using the "Copy Entire DVD" function on Nero Express. Recently though, the writing speed has gone from 16x to 4x. The DVDs I'm using are suitable for 16x. I have also checked to make sure that my Primary and Secondary IDE Channels have not switched to PIO from DMA.

I noticed that initially when I put the first DVD in, I had a "Read Error". Could this have caused the writing speed to change.

Any ideas would be very welcome at this stage.
    Thanks

    Hi ticlad
    What media are you using?
What's the make and model of the drive? The burn speed issue may be cause the firmware doesn't have the media codes for the ones you're using. A firmware update - if one's available - may help.

    Hi Binkie,

I think I've found out what was happening. I was using Tevion DVD-R, rated for 16x. Must have been a problem with the DVD's as I've finished the last spindle and moved onto a new one and it's back burning at 16x.

Thanks a million for your input though.

    Not a problem
That could have been your problem.
If it happens again just post back.
