I have been trying to burn an mp3 to a audio cd using nero so I can play them in my car and the damn thing keeps failing at 20%. I don't think there is a problem with the writer as I can burn other mp3s fine its this certain mp3 that I recorded from an online radio station using a piece of software called total recorder. I used the lame encoder to record using a sample rate of 48000hz, stereo and 192kbps. I have tried converting the mp3 to wav using a sample rate of 44100hz, 16Bit and Stereo and still no avail. Can please some one help below is my log file from nero:

    Hi,

Could you please edit your serial # out of your post? We don't want anyone else using your serial. It's the string of numbers/letters at the top of your log.

Now to business. It seems the track you recorded is giving Nero fits, yes?

Have you tried converting the track to a wav file before burning with Nero? Either Exact Audio Copy or CDex are good for this. it may be worth a shot :)

Thanks for you posts. The problem seemed to be down to either the sample rate or bit rate, I converted the mp3 to wav and down sampled to 41000hz using goldwave. I resaved the wav to mp3 @ 41000hz and a bitrate of 128kbps. This sorted the problem. Maybe nero can't handle MP3s at a sample rate 48000hz and a bit rate @ 192kbps. Who knows it works now. Thanks

For any form of CD Audio, a sample rate of 48KHz is no good, and will usually result in digital noise.
When trying to do anything with MP3, if the end result is intended for CD, stay at a samplerate of 44.1KHz or else you will run into trouble.

I recently had a series of files that looked like 44.1KHz, but when you try to burn them, the he3aders were all wrong and they turned out to be 12KHz instead, so the file decoded as 4 times longer.

Point is, most samplerate converters are rubbish.
The best one available IMO is freeware and called R8Brain.
It can be found, along with some other great tools, at
    www.voxengo.com/downloads.

These are mainly pay plugs, but there are some great freeware ones too. Highly recommended.
