I have a computer that couldn't log into e-mail, so I ran an antivirus and spyware on it. Now it doesn't get an internet connection. There are no conflicts on the device manager. Please, help me out. I don't really want to take it out to a pc shop. I just can't figure out what it is. Thanks again!

do a system restore to before your problem started.

What kind of internet connection do you have? What kind of networking hardware? Do you have an IP address? What is it? Can you ping your DNS server?

You may just have a corrupt TCP/IP stack. Download this, and run.
    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html
It should rebuild the stack and may fix the problem.

    Rich,
I had called a PC in town and they had mentioned the same thing. I was already frustrated, but let me try this first. Thanks.

Rich, if he doesn't have an internet connection, he can't do that. :)

I'm actually on another computer I have at home. The one affected is one that I had sold to my sister in law. I'm going to get to work in a few minutes, wish me luck!

the restore point is after the damage was done. I think I'm gonna have to drop the cash to have it repaired.
