Again Thanks everyone for the input. I successfully backed up one of my DVDs (Christmas Vacation), there were a variety of settings that I didn't have correct. But now I'm trying to back-up a newer DVD (don't know if it matters that it is newer), and DVDdecrypter tells me the "device is not ready". I'm thinking that there is a problem with my DVD burner reading the disk. Here is a copy of the debug log from decrypter

Don't know if that will help anyone assist me. I really hope I didn't invest in a crappy DVD burner, did some research and it looked to be decent. I can't get PowerDVD to play it either (damn program always quits responding). Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, I just tried SmartRipper and it tells me no DVD found, and when I click on the eject button in the top right of the window it tells me "No ASPI adapter available". Can anyone help me or is it just a lost cause? THanks in advance.

I only have an ASPI layer that comes within Nero (check Nero Info Tool).
When starting SmartRipper it tries to tell me I have no ASPI installed so you just hit OK & it loads all VOB BUP IFO files still.
I think it is a greater problem than not having any ASPI layer if SmartRipper doesn't even aknowledge there is a DVD in your drive...

Ok, checked NERO and is tells me I have WNASPI32.dll installed under NERO ASPI, but no ASPI driver installed when I click on System ASPI. Hope this makes sense. I can't figure out what the problem is cause I've already successfully burned a DVD with this setup this morning, but now it won't work.

Ok, the next step in my saga. Had my computer off all last nite, woke up this morning turned on computer, and inserted DVD in DVD drive. Everything recognized it. Is it possible that my DVD drive shuts down or runs incorrectly the longer my PC is on? Maybe temperature in the case? Just speculating so let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

I don't usually leave it on very long (a couple of hours at a time), but occasionally it will be on for extended periods of time (8 or so hours maybe more). Again thanks for all the help everyone.

    hi all

I have had the disc wont run after burning etc!

what it is as someone before in this post states! that the ram or drive needs clearing! in my case after burning and doing all sorts of drive asociated stuff with software the drive locks on burn!!!! and does not always UNLOCK after! try in another drive or reboot comp!

    Thx..
