    Hi,

I have an old sharp viewcam, (approx 7 yrs) and want to know the easiest way to put my media onto my pc.

The tapes i have are NOT the hi8 type but just the 8.

    Thanks.

    Dan

Don't know exactly what type of tape you have but I assume it is analog. There are basically three ways to capture analog tape:
    1. Connect the output of your camcorder to a video-in if your PC has one.
    2. Buy an analog capcture device (you can buy them in the form of esparate boxes taht you connect using USB or as a PCI card that you install on your PC)
    3. Use an analog-to-digital pass through using a digital camcorder.

Check this: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/basics/transfer.php under "Analog video capture"
