Texting from a pc to a cell phone

I want to send text messages using a broadband(preferably)or modem connected pc to friends cell phones. I have found programs but they require you to have a cell (which i dont) Anyone know of a program that will let me accomplish this with out a cell phone? Thanks for the help!

I know if your friends have cingular you can text them using your computer.

 

Yea, call your Carrier, and ask what the address for the Cell Carrier in question. It's usualy the phone # @ **********@ what ever. Like vzw's for sending a Text, it would be **********@vtext.com, and for sending Pic.'s , Flic.'s and Sounds, it would be **********@vzwpix.com.

 

I pretty much got it down. I was able to use vtext. Thats for the replys. Take care.
