I'm using Sony DRU510A and getting Invalid field in command error from Nero 5.5.10.54. I installed it as my slave drive. My master drive is Sony CD-RW. I tried to create a backup DVD following the guide at DVDShrink.info and the guide at www.chrismccann.co.uk. I used DVDShrink to rip and compress. Using Memorex DVD-RW 1x-2x. My system is WINXP, 768 megs memory. Another error along with the one i mention above is "Could not perform start of Disc-At-Once". I have tried changing my IDE Secondary Channel settings but still no luck. I'm tired of messing with this drive. Can someone please help me.

    Here is my Nero log:

    Hi,
got the same problem, different equipment though. Also NERO 5.5.10.xxxxxx under XP. Something I found from the log: I've enabled overburning to be able to burn a 900 Mb CD but in the log it says 'overburning FALSE'? In my case I think it's a users error, because the writer is a DVD/CD writer and should be able to handle this kinds of disks.

Maybe we can compare settings to see if there's a mutual error?

Do you have Roxio installed? I had to remove it to get Nero to burn. I got similar errors.
Also check firmware or bios for your drive.

    tuc23-

You should have your Nero set to your burner under Recorder > Chose Recorder. Close the Wizard, select DVD-Video from the File > New options. Navigate to the folder where you stored your DVD Shrink IFO, BUP and VOB files. Select them all & drag them to your compilation window. You're ready to burn.

    <<--

Swap your drives around on your IDE chain and make the DVD drive a master. Turn on DMA in the Control Panel.

    luck-

    Hey RWG
I have switched DVD-RW to master and CD-RW to slave. I'm unable to turn on DMA on my secondary channel for the master drive. I select the option "DMA If Avaible", I reboot my PC. It still is in PIO Mode for the master drive. The slave drive(CD-RW) is Ultra DMA Mode 2. How do I force the DVD-RW to Ultra DMA Mode? I'm able to burn a DVD/Video with RecordNow and burnatonce. Nero is not working though. Maybe I just need to stick with what works. But I sure would like to user Nero. Thanks in advance.

If you aren't able to turn on DMA it my not be possible to force it. If you can record with RecordNow DX you should be able to use Nero 6.

Can you record a CD with your Sony drive? Does your copy of Nero recognize it - lower right corner of the Nero window (w/o Wizard)? Have you selected the DVD bnurner under Chose Recorders?

If not, I'd suggest d/l'ing the new Nero 6.3.0.0. Uninstall your previous version and install Nero 6.3 -or- upgrading to 6.3.0.0 for upgrades sake.

    later-

    Hi RWG

Thanks for the advice, I found a little utility on Dell's forum that forces all drives to DMA. You can go to http://support.dell.com/filelib/download.aspx?FileID=63977&releaseid=r53986 to download the utility. Just follow the instructions. Once I did that I reinstall NERO 5.5.10.54. Was able to burn a DVD-Video, but when I played it on mya standalone DVD player. It hung up with about 5 mins to go in the movie. Not sure what happened here. I will try it a couple more times, if all fails, I will continue using RecordNow. Thanks alot RWG.
