When I run virtual dub and try to open up an avi file, I receive an error message which states: "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'Xvid' (unknown) Virtual Dub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress the video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable." Can someone put that into english for me or tell me what codec or codecs I have to download to make this work?
This isn't really my area of expertice but it apperas you need an XVid codec. I use Koepi's just fine: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/xvid.cfm There are also codec packs that'll install many of the common codecs. FFDShow and K-Lite are two such packs: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/index2.cfm
