Hi. I've read through all the guides and tutorials and after some trial an error, I was able to make a terrific DVD-R from and Xvid MPEG-4 file. The audio is flawless (no sync issues), the picture quality is superb (no jerky movements). The only problem is that the aspect ratio is wrong and everyone looks slightly fat. The original file is 640*288 (2.21:1).

I used Virtual Dub to convert the MP3 to WAV. Then I used TMPGEnc to create the streams. I used the "Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)" both #1 and #2, both of them are producing results of about 2.35 or so. If I use any of the other settings, it comes out about 1.78 which makes everyone too skinny. Will TMPGEnc just not handle a 640*288 aspect ratio properly?

Thanks everyone for all the great info on this site!

You must choose 2.35:1 or 1.85:1, whichever is closest to your 'project' - it is not an exact conversion.
Please note there is a forum for this:

This is the DivX encoding forum.
Okanagan uses DivXtoDVD, I use NeroVision Express.
    (30 days passes so fast...)
    So good luck to you,
