If a person buys their DVD movies in the US, and then they want to watch them in their PC's DVD player/recorder. The first time they put in DVD disk into the DVD it will ask what region you are in, and it will set your DVD to that region. If they want to make a backup of that disk why does one have to use s/w to fool the DVD of the region of that DVD disk?

If you are going to be buying your DVD in the US, watch them in the US, back them up in the US why does this need to be done. changing region codes

    thanks

As long as you are buying and playing dvds from the same region then there is no need to do so. Some people like movies from outside their region and those movies may be unavailable within their region so they have to use programs to change the region of the dvd.
