hi, until now i have been using megui in windows to recode hi-def movies into suitable format to burn as avchd discs to play on my ps3. i am looking for a way to get the same results on my imac.
the problem is the lack of quality x264 GUIs for mac. the closest thing i found is visual hub but it lacks support for letterboxing (avchd requires video resolution to be standard 720p or 1080p, so films using a wider ratio need to be letterboxed to standardise the video resolution). i had also been following the development of X* (x dot) which aimed to be a mac equivalent of megui but unfortunately it looks like the project has stopped.
does anyone know of software that would allow me to do 2-pass x264 encodes and letterbox?
