I have a 3rd party component cable that has three system connectors (xbox1, xbox360, and ps2) connectors at the other end. I have verified that the component works fine with the xbox360 and ps2 (xbox360 at 1080i and ps2 at 480p), however, when I plug it into the xbox 1, I can't get xbmc to run in any of the hd modes. I've turned on all the hd options in the original ms dashboard I've turned on all the hd options in xmbc settings I've tried ONLY turning on one of the settings at a time like 1080i only. No matter what I do, when I hit the display button on my tv, it always says 480i. Anybody know how to get xmbc to display in HD?
First of all, I never run anything in 1080i. I find it lags a bit when faced with slightly complex tasks. I have used third party equipment before and think it is inferior. In a whole you can see the quality is lower, see coruption on memory cards over a certain size. The ms componant cables are an easy find on craigslist and worth the money. I would blame the cables and feel confident a new set would get you going.
Did you change the settings to 1080i in the display settings in unleash-x or whatever dashboard you are using? I'm not talking about just doing it in XBMC. My TV doesn't tell me if it's in 1080i, but I have to assume it is, because DVD look better on my Xbox than they do on my 360 which can only do 480p over component.
I am using XBMC as my dashboard. I used to use Avalaunch and UnleashX interchangebly but I've found XBMC superior to both.
but XBMC doesnt' always function properly as the dashboard. 1080i mode seems to be one of those cases.
