   at what point in the xvid guide would i make the changes to make 1 movie fit to a cd-r. and as much information back would be very helpfull. thank you

   I dont know which guide you are using but in any case, right after you select the codec (XVID), you have the option of specify the bitrate. Download any number of xvid bitrate calculators available to get the desired value. Just to be safe, it never hurts to choose a bitrate slightly lower than specifed by the calculator
