Xvid to DVD Conversion Problems

Hi folks, yes Ive read the guides and done some research but I would appreciate some specific answers from the experienced folk here.

    1. My xvid mpeg4 encoded video is done at a bitrate of 1564. Yet during re-encoding into DVD mpeg TMPEEnc Xpress whacked it up to over 4000....So is there any benefit in this? Im burning to DVD-R so filling the disc doesnt matter anyway I guess.

    2. I originally had a AC3 6 channell audio track at 448 bit rate.....Either the linear pcm or mpeg option seem to make it stereo? How do I retain my dolgy digital sound encoding?

    Thanks

With Xilisoft Video Converter, you may output mpeg 2 file with ac3 sound.

    Thanks

Im going to try another encoder anyway as TMPENC Xpress *ALWAYS* gives a catasrophic failure at 50% encoding completion every time I try to encode this file anyway.
