depends what games you play really. Crysis makes some use of quad cores it seems, but currently the only major ones are Assassin's Creed and Supreme Commander.
Meh ill upgrade next year i guess.. after i save up some money right now the processor you told me about seems fine (unlesss u think its worth spending the extra 50$)

The CNPS8000 is only really necessary in small cases such as the Silverstone Sugo. For normal PCs you will get much better cooling performance from a taller heatsink like the Freezer 7 Pro.

Knowing him as a salesmen i thought he was just trying to make the sale, however he continuously kept on telling me this is a lot better for 20$ more, so i feel for it, they do have a returning system, so what do you think of this mobo (at least ill get a honest answer from you)
It's a reasonable motherboard, but it doesn't really offer anything extra that the Gigabyte doesn't, other than a second PCIe slot - and gigabyte boards offer those too. You have to be very careful with Asus boards as some are excellent, but some are terrible. To be on the safe side I'd stick with the Gigabyte.
i have that exact mobo, and its superb. a nice plethora of OCing options, and brilliant layout. not one problem, and im using 64bit vista :O

Does anyone have the Vendetta2 cpu cooler? what do you think? Is it decent, bad good? (this is for future references because the the tech guy at store insisted i get this, but he might have just been trying to make me pay more...)
the OCZ vendetta...u never heard of it :O from what i have seen it an rival the top coolers....but not at top OCs.

Oh and I have the P5K-E board, I built my PC about a month ago, and chose it over the Gigabyte board for a few reasons: It has built-in WiFi, external sata (eSATA) ports, 2 PCI-E x16 ports for crossfire, and a lot of overclocking features/options. You can find great reviews for this board anywhere, and I personally go for the ASUS brand. Another big reason why I got this board is because it runs OS X Leopard perfectly, which is a cool thing you might want to mess around with. The Gigabyte board was definitely a close second for me though. Also, check out the 9800GTX for only $249.99! I went with the exact card that sammorris suggested earlier but the 9800's weren't out yet. the 8800's are previous generation, so i'd personally go with this. You know what, save yourself the time and hassle of RMA if anything goes wrong, and get most if not all the parts locally. Nothing is more irritating then having to send back a motherboard/cpu in the middle of building a pc (and having to pay for return shipping!) it might come out a little cheaper from ncix, but its a lot easier to deal with potential problems locally. Well to tell your the truth i already bought 1/2 of my stuff: Mobo: P5K-E CPU: E6850 Fan: Vendetta 2 Ram: Corsair TWINX 2gig Vcard: 8800 GT XFX 512mb I still need the Case, the PSU, the hard drive and dvd drive I think im going to stick to what sammorris said about all of the above, however the Antec 900 does seem better ventilated + i don't need a PSU with the case since im buying it separately..I just hope the Antec is in stock for Canadacomputers because they say "0" at their site right now but usually those things are wrong.
