For Christmas I received a PS3, and some Blu Rays to watch on our new Panasonic Viera TH-C42HD18. Thing is I thought it was only able to display up to 720p, but when i plugged my PS3 into the tv through HDMI, it was saying that it was being displayed in 1080p. I'm just wondering if I'm actually seeing 1080p, or am I just being fooled into thinking I am.

On a side note, I ordered Planet Earth on blu ray, the complete collection and all. But when i looked inside, I found 3 blu rays (discs 2 - 4), and an HD DVD... wtf?

If the TV is only 720p then thats what you see. Your PS3 might be set to display 720p, 1080i, and 1080p...

    Planet Earth used?
quite the mix up if that was brand new from store.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up! I figured that I was just seeing 720.

And yea, I didn't buy from store, I ordered online through Best Buy. Really weird if you ask me. Payed a hefty amount for that thing. haha

According to the Panasonic website that model is 720P. It will not display 1080i, or 1080P.
