only the tarts dive around. The Italians, spaniards & portugese are strong nations, but they go over like they have just been sniped -- and they bring the same culture into the premiership. it's a disgrace - bunch of fairies..

Here, here! That is the one reason that Australians in general don't follow soccer. I think the population takes a certain amount of pride in playing a hard, honest game, and the the way the competition is at the moment it just isn't possible. In all of our games we had a lot of opposition players auditioning for stuntman roles and bad ref calls, point in case being the last 10 seconds of our game against Italy. The least the Italians could have done is said we played a good game in their interviews, the arrogant mob just patted themselves on the shoulders and said they were the greatest, the game statistics tell another story. Whether they deserved the win is debatable, but I can accept it, it would just be nice if they were good sports. There is such a thing as being a bad winner, and that team takes the cake.

I think us Aussies will be sticking to the sports we know and love: Cricket and Footy (league). At least if a man hits the ground in a rugby code there is usually something broken or bleeding, you can't fake that.

    I once read somewhere,
"Footballers pretend to be injured, rugby players pretend that they are not injured"

The amount of diving & feigning injury is a disgrace to the game. Why does nobody do anything about it? Are the governing bodies that spineless? What is this teaching the children that watch these farcical displays? It teaches them that cheating is OK.

I don't really like football, but I have watched a few games. I can still appreciate good moves & talent in any sport.

I'm with you completely. Brazil performed below standard and France deserved and got the game. For the trap shut part, I'll do that too. All remaining 4 are respected teams.

    Greets to all!!!

i got here late, but there was something about argentina being the best, i think not, if you really really understand the game, argentina has a lot of good players, but all they do is try to hurt people to make them loose, and whenever they get a chance, they act as if they were hit by a car or something worse, it's just to get things on their side, that is the way they have done it always, they really have no tecnique. the only teams that really have a chance are brazil, england, and germany, no one has mentioned germany, but as everyone should know already, the host team always works harder than anyone else, they do it because they cannot be stepped on so easily at home, it would be really humilliating, even if they loose, they never do as bad as other teams do, consider japan on the last world cup, they did much much better than on this one, that's becasue they were playing home mostly. and by the way, why does everyone think that to make a point you must curse? it's senseless and it shows how educated you are, remember that anywhere you are, you are always representing your country, no matter who you talk to, so it makes it look really bad when you say: hey, i'm from X country, and then you go and say a bunch of stuff that offend others, remember that there's alot of racist people all around, and they will take any excuse to speak bad about other people who they think are inferior, yes i said such a thing, even if some people want to deny it, racism is real and it's happening right now everywhere, no one dares to make the difference

You guys say many times the word "AUSSIES", as I´m portuguese, and of course, don´t understand all the english slang, could somebody tell me what that means? who´re those guys?
I know a word in french, AUSSI, that means -(too, also, as well).
    Does that mean French?

That's an excellent question. The refs are running around throwing yellow and red cards like confetti but I've only personally seen two given for the countless dives I've seen. Something isn't right with that.

I'm personally rooting for Germany but no matter how it turns out I think we're going to have some phenomenal matches in store for us :)

In F1, if a driver makes a bad overtaking move, the stewards look at the tapes & make a decision of a penalty after the race. In football, there never seems to be any follow up to players who dive & avoid been seen by the ref. Why is this? I simply cannot understand this attitude to footballers. This is one reason I do not really like footy, there are very few reprimands for bad sportmanship, in fact it would seem it would be encouraged by some faculties. Anything to gain an advantage.
I cannot understand why they do not use video replay either. These guys are on obscene amounts of money, when they do wrong, little happens.
It is far to weighted on the referee, he simply cannot see what is going on all the time. With the amount of money & national pride at stake I do not know why bad sportsmanship is not condemned & players reprimanded after games.
If they got fined or the teams lost points for this sort of cheating, they would think twice about feigning injury, also they would be treated like a pariah in there countries for bad sportsmanship.
Something has to be done, as the good name of football is being brought into disrepute & the governing bodies are unwilling &/or incapable of doing anything about it.

france were kinda cheaters in the spain game aswell. They scored the first goal because the guy snapped henrys leg but henry held his face :\

and as for pulsar once the game ends and if there was anything the ref should have given a team of ex players and other refs go to look
at the incident and give/take away cards if necessary.

Sure, Henry made the most of it, but he was still blocked by Puyol. It was still a yellow card, and a fair goal.

    About diving.

Put it this way, a true story:

In football a mam fell over and completly by mistake knocked a mans nose. And got booked for it. No injury yet still a booking.

In rugby two hookers had a two minute full on punch up. They finished shook hands and the game went on. No send off nothing.

    Damn football.

Any of these teams that make it to the final deserve the cup.

    Good games ahead.
