So sad, my favorite Brazil, Argentina both lost the game. Germany, France, Portugal, Italy - A World Cup of Europe. Who'll be the winner?
Last match that Portugal played against France (Euro 2000), Portugal lost because Abel Xavier stopped the ball with his hand, and a penalty was born at that moment. I hope we donĀ“t have any more heroes like that.
So who's gonna win tomorrow, i'm saying Italy and France. FYI Torsten Frings is suspended from the semi final, because he punched an Argentinian player. Klose and Ballack are also SLIGHTLY injured.
Well I keep trying to be a soccer fan and I am, as ususal, disgusted by the end of the tournament. Every four years I get pumped up during the group stages and then by the time of semi-finals I ususally hate the game. Teams like Australia and England will never win because they play fair. The Rooney incident was shameful as an entire event unto itself. First you have Rooney trying to fight off two players with shear force and succeeding. On any other team the whistle would have gone for a free kick to Rooney. Rooney's kick to the family jewels was frustration at the non-call and the fact he has to work for everything he gets instead of diving. Next (if you watch the replays enough)you have the ref apparently indicisive on the play until Ronaldo shows up begging for Rooney to be shown a red card. The ref (contrary to what he says now) expelled Rooney for his push AND Ronaldo's begging. He was definately influenced by Ronaldo. I think Rooney deserved a yellow for his frustration at the most. In the Brasil game, the real Ronaldo pushed a French player out of the way after a play much harder than Rooney did and nothing happened. In fact, a Portugese player pushed Crouch later in the same game. SO while you can debate if he shouold have been sent off for his well placed kick which apparently wouldn't have caused any damage because the Portugese apparently have no balls, be aware the ref had a day to come forward with his version and I'm telling you that's not why he sent him off. See here's the thing, before the game Sepp Blatter complained about the English style of play AND the ref (argentinian) stated that Portugal were a better skilled team and he would be watching the English closely for rough play. Whether you agree with them or not, Blatter has no business commenting on any team and the ref should have been disquailfied for bringing in a pre-conceived idea. Anyway, my rant is over. I know most of you are purists but why not put a clock on the game and count down on the stadium clock so the fans know exactly how much time there is. And please STOP the clock when a player is hurt or the ball goes out of play. This would get rid of all the time wasting near the end of the game by the leading team. No more fake injuries; long substitutions or yellow cards to goalies for taking too long. Just a thought. Gotta root for ZZ now!
If you stop the clock all the time you would have to change the "real" playing time to 60 Minutes like in ice hockey, american football or basketball. But it would change the game a lot and I think it will never happen. What the (fake) Ronaldo did was really not cool. Rooney is his (future-ex) teammate! That shows what a "great" sportsman he is. England and penalty shooting - it's so sad it makes me laugh. They are just tough man on the outside. They seem to have some kind of complex. It's really strange. I mean, it was not against Germany this time. It's still a great tournament. How France beat Brasil - that was fantastic! And these stadiums! Great atmosphere.
It is actually a pretty good tourney this time I just get frustrated by it. Born in Ireland and raised in Canada, I'm used to playing a sport physically, fairly, and if you get your nose bloodied, shaking hands with the guy who did it at the end of the game. I found it telling that Hargreaves was complaining to the ref alot and got a yellow card for it. He is probably not used to all this crap and was frustrated by it. But he was the best player in that game. Anyone but Portugal wins and I'm happy.
There's a new book called "Red Card" (or something similar) by English journalist, Andrew Jennings, that was released in Barcelona yesterday, and aparently talks about all those secret manipulations, bribes and corruption inside FIFA. I'm planning to get me a copy, and see what kind of "revelations" are there just for the fun of reading. In a tournament as big as the WC there's always something not in the taste of part of the public. For the most part, refs are always the a$$*#@s that ruin the cups. And today we'll find out about Germany and Italy. I believe there was a conspiracy to eliminate Brazil from this cup... lol
yeah i think there was as well tranquash..you cant have the best players in the world and lose to france example ronaldinho is the man for barca and he plays shit for brasil.juninho the best free kick taker in the world caused ac milan so many problems on his own but cant get past one france guy and is it not weird we were saying henry was playing shit in the first game and the overall france team aswell and suddenly they bring out a brilliant performance.DOES NOT ADD UP PEOPLE. France has probably gave brasil money to pay off their debts to the rest off the world in return for a place in the next stage. Oh and as for Rooney if he just could keep his temper he would not have got sent off its as simple as that.
Italy is going all the way they are going to have a tough match againts germany today but with totti, del piero, and buffon on there team they are going to have a good chance. They have an amazing defence and they are going to win it all
rooney kicked him and rustled alittle bit he got called. it happeneds so much in the world cup. teams fake getting hurt all the time just so they can get a free kick. the whistle blows they get up and they play theres nothing to it
ITALIA ITALIA ITALIA!!!! What a game, the most exciting i've seen. Now let's see who italy plays in the final, or should i say who Italy beats.
