LMAO! Yeah, that is what it looks like, albeit a purple one! The real goof is that it's from 1939!

Disclaimer* not wanting to start flame war.

Don't you think vipes are overpriced for what they are? I mean a vette and stang are around 60 were the viper is close 2 200,000.

uh, the viper starts at around $80,000. sure, it's overpriced--all luxury and sports cars are. but it's still a beast, and if i had the money, i'd get it.

I was just looking at your 2008 charger... styled a bit like the original!

The only $200,000+ Viper I know of is a Hennessey.

Yeah, its pretty sexy if I do say so myself. I know it doesn't really relate to the tread (its way over the price range of the Challenger!) but emachine made the comment about how they though the Viper was 200,000 so I posted the Hennessey link.

On the Hennessey though, I am surprised that its compression ratio is "only" 9.0:1, maybe its due to it being turbocharged instead of supercharged?

By the way, after looking at the picture of the engine those turbos are huge! If I am thinking right one is next to the alternator and the other is just on the opposite side (I think those are the turbos!).

Oh, by the way, I know its in "Supercar" status but IMO anything can hit sixty in under six is fast, this thing hits 100 in under six and 200 in well under 20!

I wonder what kind of aftermarket stuff companies will throw at the Challenger ^_^

    Peace,

    Pop Smith

P.S. One other thing I like about the way Hennessey does their upgrades (they upgrade Mustangs, Jeeps, Porsches, and a few others as well!), when the deck out your car they practically make it a sleeper. The Vipers, other then the small "Twin-Turbo" side badges (which I would personally remove) it looks for the most part like a bone-stock Viper with a slight body change.

@Auslander...no, not really. Around 1970, the designing got a little sloppy methinks. I don't mean they weren't good looking cars but the charger, challenger and barracuda and road runner were clearly all variations on a theme, if you know what I mean. Different ... but not. I prefer the cars in the 60-68 range; just more individuality, less cloning (or spin-offs anyway).

What I knew about cars, I knew because my firends were grease monkeys; I wasn't. But, I also think that between say 1955-1968(69) or so, cars were easier to differentiate not only among the big 3 (although rambler made some neat cars too) but easier to differentiate between the models. Slowly, after 1970, they seem to have lost distinguishing features. I think that's why the remake of the VW bug and the nostalic look of the Cruiser caught on well....it was like a break from the mold. Just me perhaps.

you had said "2008 Charger", though. it really doesn't look anything like the original, while the challenger does, leading me to believe that maybe you mixed them up. sorry, ger. ^.^
