the bentley may be more luxurious and have a more famous name, but it's less efficient, less reliable, and less usable. subarus are the all-around best cars out there.

    *edit*
i'm sorry, man, but you're family has too much money. i can't even fathom buying a girl a bently for her 16th. i'd be putting it into preparations for WWIII or funding scientific developments or something or i dunno...but lord, that's a lot of disposable income.

hmm...use those funds to help me start WWIII. the plan is to buy ethiopia with pocket change, then invade Africa. once the continent is subjugated, we launch wars on all fronts on all other continents. help me buy more guns to start with. ol' Kim can get us nukes.

i don't remember if i've talked about this or not, but look: 'Buru Diesel. other rumors are that it will be basically the same 2.5 liter block, with minimal changes to make it diesel-ready. i don't care, as it will still fit in my car. with this and a tranny-swap, i'm looking at 3/2 the power and fuel economy of my current subie. driving economically, i could expect as much as 45 mpg! and run on the same fuel as the BOV truck i'm going to build-->this makes me a very happy Aus.

it's common for european diesel cars to get that economy range and still outperform many US gas-powered cars.

depends what model you're going for. the base models with no options (though most subies have standards that are options on competing vehicles) start in the mid-upper teens, with the most expensive models decked out in the mid-$30,000 USD range. my 2005 Impreza RS w/ sport package and some dealer goodies was about $18k. it may be the base model, but it's still plenty fast and does the jobs.

(cough cough i stomped a v-8 firebird cough cough)

even if you think subies are pricey for whatever range you're in, they're really not. they last for frickin' ever. you don't find many used ones for sale, as the owners love them so much they literally drive them into the ground. they're renowned for lasting twice as long as the even the more reliable american cars.

    *edit*
if you really do some searching and price cars, you could find a 2002-2004 Impreza RS in good condition fro $10-12k. the RS is dubbed the "I" by subaru as of 2006, just so you know. also, now all three major versions (RS/I, WRX, and STI) use the same 2.5 liter engine block. lots of parts are interchangeable *wink wink*

    *re-edit*
the 2006 Impreza 2.5i Sedan is, i believe, the single most fuel-efficient model, rated at 22/29. however, i can vouch for that engine seeing 32 mpg on the highway. 173 horsepower, 166 ft-lbs of torque.

i took the liberty of putting the basic package's sticker for you here.
