    What needs to be changed other than the PC itself? DMA?

    Also after the burn, I tried to reboot the PC and while booting up, a blue screen error came up saying UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_DEVICE. What does that mean?

    did you leave dvdr in drive? if so your bios is set to boot from dvd drive first, not a problem remove dvdr!

    safe mode = no drivers = no dma enabled?

    === Scsi-Device-Map ===
    DiskPeripheral : IBM-DTLA-307030 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
    CdRomPeripheral : DVDR/RW DX162D-A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
    CdRomPeripheral : SONY ROMJAPAN 007F a7qigh7e Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off

    but your burn was good yes?
