So my little bro gave me his old 2nd gen ipod and its disabled from putting the wrong password in to many times (he couldnt remember it). I dont have access to the pc it was originally hooked up to (he's got a new laptop n junked his desktop).

I tried putting this thing into DFU mode and restoring it with iTunes but I get error 3014. Here is the error report from iTunes...

I found plenty of references but I used Google and not something like Bing.

    Unlock ipod

Why would you try to update a locked ipod? Chance are you screwed it up. Lets hope you are lucky. Try unlocking your device FIRST. Then you need to make a note. Better yet DON'T LOCK IT! Most persons will have an easier time than you to unlock it without the key so why do it?

Pshell why would you suggest looking into an iphone error. The number or error message could be the same but the device is different. The real reason for the problem is you shouldn't me updateing itunes on a locked ipod. itunes is smart enough not to let someone easily by pass a locked ipod.

You both seem a bit nuts to me. Just try to fix the problem the right way. Doing something you shouldn't have done you might have screwed up your ipod.
