    Greetings all...

First off, I wanted to thank you, psiDOC for creating the app. I am new to the world of DVD backup.....and I'm hoping that you or someone is is more familiar with using XCOPY platinum and can help me....

I too have the XCOPY Platinum version and was wondering if there are any progress or workaround to removing the 321 screen?

When I start the XCopy app, I do not have a blank disc inserted, and although while using the "simple" option (instead of "advance"), the appropriate files are created in the temp folder... for some reason, when there isn't a blank disc, XCOPY platinum closes (disappears)....and there is no way for me to burn because when I open XCOPY, it is as if it is starting over and is waiting to start on another DVD. I believe the 321gone app works in this manner, however, when I use an app like ProDVD DVDtoDVD Copy to try and put those vob files that wass created using the "simple" option, I lose all the menu screens and such...the movie will just play with no index of scenes... Am I not using either app correctly?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Platinum simple mode (AKA XCopy Xpress) is supported by 321 gone.
The Rip and exit you mention of Xpress I have heared about. I think you may need to re-install and make sure that the PCouffin burning driver is set to the correct drive.
Else try the 321 Software forum on this site.
Also it sounds like you are ripping the DVD in movie only mode. I usually rip movie only for 2 reasons: 1: I want the best quality video in the movie (as little compression as I can). 2: I usually can't be arsed to look at all the other crap on the DVD anyway!!
If you want to use rip the full DVD then click the little box beside "Entire Disk" on the panel of XPress it'll put an X in the box. This means you are in full DVD copy mode.
    Regards,
    Psi

    Thanks for responding PsiDOC...
OK. I will give it a retry at uninstalling and re-installing the XCOPY Platinum.

So if I am understanding correctly, If I use simple mode with the platinum edition, 321gone will work?. Maybe silly question, but in that case, if I am looking to do a simple backup of a DVD with all the extras and such, I could use the "simple" method instead of advance..correct? Will the simple method still fit a 7-9GB DVD onto 1 single blank DVD (I guess what I'm asking, is..will the simple version still correctly compress the DVD so that the entire DVD I am backing up will fit on 1 blank DVD?).

    Thanks again...

Xcopy Xpress can fit the FULL DVD onto one disc (features and menus) but it may be heavily compressed and you may not like the quality of it.

    Thanks for the response.

When you say that I may not like the quality... what in particular will be bad? The reason I ask is because other apps like elby CloneDVD can compress onto 1 DVD, but the video will skip, stop, stall, hesitate, and other not so good things... will xpress do the same?

    Thanks..

    In a word ..yes.
Remember something has to give somewhere.
So long as I can watch the movie, which is why I got the DVD in the 1st place, The rest is superflouous as far as I am concerned.

    Thanks PsiDoc.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing and still the same thing happens in "simple" mode where the apps closes after step 1 with no blank media in my DVDR drive. I also tried installing a newer Pcouffin..but that made it worse, when I run the DVD Xcopy app, and click on start for step 1, the system reboots.

So I removed everything and re-installed and same thing happens. Also when installing, it never gave me a choice for any drive associations, etc (fyi- i only have a dvd rom drive and dvdr drive- don't know if that matters).

Could you help me what that querk or give a link to the correct forum....I looked around but could not find my problem....

    Thanks again....

    BackUpDVD,

I am not sure I understand your question, but I think what your are looking for is in your C:\Program Files\321Studios\Xpress folder and it is call "DriveSelect.exe", this should run just once at setup and the selection should then be in your .dat file... Hope I helped, if not try to run it by us again...

Just one jerk waiting for another jerk,

    Hi GoFish.

Thanks for the response. When I run driveselect... it opens and closes. This occurs even after I un-installed and re-installed Xcopy Platinum.

On a side note, anybody have any recommendation for the most compatible DVD R(RW) media? What have people had the most luck with (brand)?

    Thanks...

I have been getting my dvds from a few guys on Ebay and 2 of my buddies and I and have all burnt at least 200 DVDs between the 3 of us and we haven't had any problems yet. You can get 100 pack spindles for $60 if you just surf around. Better then spending $200 at your local retail store.

    Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like what you are using is working for you...

Could you please tell me the name brand of the DVDs you are using? And are they DVD +R or are they -R??

    Thanks.

Have DVDXCopy Platinium v3.2.1.0. When your program 321GONE will work with my Platinium version? That intro 321 screen is killing me. Thanks.

Platinum simple mode (AKA XCopy Xpress) is supported by 321 gone. The only limitation is multilanguage DVD's which do not patch properly.

    Hi PsiDOC

Have just used your program, it'e great I was doing
the same thing by hand, this has made it much better
    & faster ;)

One thing, can we have a browse button to the files
also, as I have some movies on my harddrive that I
would lke to do, for now I move them to the dir.
that X-copy makes & do them, but a file req. would be
    good.

    Thanks for the great work...

Hey PsiDOC, its great what your doing! However I am sort of left in the cold. When I use simple mode in dvd x copy platinum 3.2.1 it crashes, so i have to use the advance mode which your program does not support. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hej PsiDOC,
Your 321GONE is great. It is working perfectly with my Platinium v3.2.1.0 in simple mod. But, when we can expect 321GONE will work with Platinium Advanced mode and for full disc copy? Thanks

Ok, folks. I am getting even more confused. For one, DVD shrink (for me) WON'T copy a movie for me. It sees the copy protection and stops. Whereas, DVD x-copy express works fine.

I have so many movie programs on this computer I really do get confused.

    Decrypter
    DVD Shrink
    Info Edit
    Vobrator
    Smart Ripper
    Clone DVD
    dvd2dvd
    flask mgeg
    Nero
    Roxio
Pinnacle (converting VHS to DVD's) (yes it works)
This is just a few. I also have and external hard drive and and external dvd burner... I am currently using a laptop, 2.1 ghz, 60 gig internal hd, cant remember the ram etc, but the laptop is new, 3 mos old.

So, I do I take off the DVD water mark if every one is having such a hard time? I am not without the programs to do it, I don't think, but I am not a programer but I too have built computers.(desktops)

The 321 gone didn't work for me... I have DVD xcopy express v. 3.2 something. I followed the instructions and nothing...DVD shrink doesn't work for me either.. I think it's just cheaper and less stressful to buy the movie and not make copies, you want extras, buy them. Unless you are a geek, this is almost impossible to do. Very, very stressful and frustrating. :-(
