"It must be quite difficult comparing compression quality though, unless there are obvious mistakes, like lack of sound or blocky pixelation..."

yeah true, but many people can tell straight away, sometimes i can, sometimes i can't :),i have found with this pixelation, skipping, pausing problem to just simply be a dirty disc, only justneed a finger print,a spec of fine dust.but on the other hand, you hear lots of reports from people which are using the same media and experiencing the same problem, and then some that don't,i have found it usually is the standalone players fault, don't know how many people realise this, your standalone player,if it's 2 years or older are not made to play dvd-/+ r,but it does, and it's not meant to just a freakish thing i think, mine still reads + backups ONLY,- r i get disc error,so one day you'll put in a movie, like i did,*L* and the player just refuses to play it,so what i did is went out and bought a cheapy player(digitor)it plays DVD/VCD/SVCD/MP3/CD/DVD-R(W)/DVD+R(W)and a couple of other features.never had a problem there after :)

First let me say what an awesome program you have created. I used it for the first time today and it worked great. I've got DVDXcopy_platinum 4.0.3.8 running on Windows ME. Of course unlike some people here...I actually read thru the thread and learned some valuable info first. To all of you who are having trouble using it....all the instructions are here...all you have to do is read them. Sorry but it gets frustrating reading some of them over and over.
Anyway...if I can be of any assistance with your quest just ask.

When using 321 Gone!!! in Platinum 4.0.3.8 Simple mode (movie only) I still get a one second flash of the back-up notice. Prior to installing 321 Gone!!! ver 063, the back-up notice was about seven seconds so, it is doing something. But, I can't figure out why it's not entirely omitting this intro. I have been following this thread since it's beginning and haven't read of others experiencing a similar problem. I've re-installed 321 Gone!!! but problem still persists.

Look in the temp folder where express saves the files. Makes sure there isn't any files or folders left from an incomplete burn. I had this happen once. Puter crashed before rip was complete and left a copyexpress folder with an incomplete rip in my temp folder that messed everything up.

I'm glad I stumbled onto 321Gone v.63. I'm running the same system as puterman with the same version of DVDXCopy. Worked like a charm! Kudos to PsiDoc. I bookmarked his website. :)

Thanks for your feedback. There were NO straggler files left in any XCopy folders. However, the problem seems to have resolved on its own! It now works perfectly.

    THANKS FOR THE PROGRAM PSIDOC.

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say 321 gone is working just great on my express. Great job!!!! I have a question. All the movies that I have backedup have been great. I used memorex 4X + disks. I went and tried one called Kypermedia 1x - 2.5x + on Two different movies and when I was done and played them back, 1 hr and 42 min on both they lock up. I have a freind that has had the same problem with his. ( Different Brand disk and Different burner. Same 321) Is it the slower time or is it a cheap disk or what? I don't think it has anything to do with 321.

What brand of media is your friend using. I have used Memorex and TDK without any problems. (92 discs and counting) I do know people however that have had similar problems with other "cheap generic" brands. I was thinking about trying Khypermedia....I'll avoid them now. I'd love to know what brand your friend uses so I can avoid them too. :) I do think the brand of media is important.

Thanks for the Info. I don't know at this time what he was using. Have you trIed a cheaper 4x. Everything that was cheaper was a 2.5 x. Just thought that maybe part of the problem. Thanks again

Do you have a good place to buy Ritek? I've read some threads here that have said there are some fake Ritek discs out there. They only mention places un the U.K. to buy the good ones. I'm in the Midwest U.S.

    rg166:
I don't know what speed they were but I'm sure they weren't 4x. I don't think speed is the issue. As ispy says...it's most likely a media type problem. If you read thru some of the threads here. You'll read about people being ok with 15 out of 100 bad discs....NOT me.

    PsiDOC:
Haven't heard from you in awhile. Hope all is good with you and your family. I know your thread has kinda gotten away from the topic of your program. I guess that means its working, but we would like to hear how your coming on any upgrades.

    rg166,
I tried Kypermedia several months ago and had nothing but problems. But there are other 'cheap' disc's that do work (at least for me) I've had very good luck with PRINCO's for example.

rg166: The cheap discs I used were Mirror brand 4x with the pale dye, there is a Mirror Platinum with darker dye which a freind of mine has used in the same burner as me with good results.I stick with Ritek 4x white top printables with dark G04 dye. ispy

    hi guys.

Im not gonna lie, im new to the "dvd copy" world, so ive come for some help. Ive got dvdxcopy platinum, and it works great for copying dvds. But ive learnt that once youve copied a dvd from dvdxcopy, you cant recopy a copy. Does anyone know how to re-copy a copied dvd made from dvdxcopy????
    can anyone help??? Psidoc???
Also i thought id try using dvd shrink cos thats what everybodys talking about, but when dvd shrink finishes encoding, it doesnt actually burn the dvd, which is what i thougt it did. What program can i use to burn the dvd after dvd shrink?
If Anyone can be so kind to help, thanks

First, to get rid of your first problem you need to use 321gone before you copy your DVD and you won't have the copy to copy problem. It will also get rid of the introductory 321studios screen. After making the copy you can also use dvdshrink to make a copy from a copy. You are correct DVDSHRINK does not actually burn a DVD. You can buy NERO or CLONEDVD or you can use BURNATONCE or DVDECRYPTER to actually burn the DVD. Since you have a DVD BURNER already you may have a DVD BURN program which might also work.

Thanks for your advice pa104inf, ive tried 321gone, but platinum still wont let me recopy the copy. It says "you cannot make copies of an archived disc, you need the original" So im thinking all the 321gone does is just remove the screen, and not the actuall archive. :-(
