They don't give out brand new units when all they have to do is replace a perfectly working iPod with a £10 lithium-ion battery -- that wouldn't make good business sense -- something which Apple have in abundance.
Yes, they do replace the whole unit when the battery dies... well at least at my local Apple store here in potland Oregon! They do this 60% of the time! The outher 40% of the time they replace the battery and case! ~Domreis
Well, once again, you have to be careful with how you say things in the forums. Just because your local store replaces them, doesn't mean it's Apple policy.. It is extremely unlikely that you will be shipped a brand new iPod if you send it to iPod for battery replacement.
Well I am sorry, this is a Apple store, I figured that all Apple stores do things the same! Why dose it matter I was just trying to tell him that sometimes they ill just give you a new iPod so he batter have his music backed up! I do know of 2 other Apple stores here in the sates do this exactly like the way the Downtown Portland one dose! The Tacoma and Bridge Port Village so therefore I figure it is done this way everywhere in the states, and like I said, I don’t know about the UK they do things differently, and I didn’t say that if you sent it to Apple I said if you take it to an Apple store!
Please, if you are posting, post correct technical information, as I have noticed some of the info you have given is somewhat misleading. Buddy, I am not trying to have a go at you (I am not like that at all , but I like to see information being posted accurately, and not misleadingly. Please, don't take it personally ;-)
Here is a link to their policy on batteries. http://www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html - They replace defective batteries under the warranty~ http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/battery/ - They only replace out-of-warranty iPods for a fee of $64.95, and the iPods aren't necessarily new..
Yes, it is fully charged. Does it keep cutting out when the battery is low, or does it continually cut out in general?
Yes, if your iPod is continually shutting itself down, and you feel it's an issue, then send it off to Apple, so they can check the problem & replace the battery if necessary.
domreis, in the states, it has the same policy as the uk, i live in california and it is the same as lethal said here. how many times have you had a personal experience with them replacing the ipod because of a bad battery? if no or little experience, how would you know? nothing personal, just trying to get the correct info out ;-)
Jazo, I shouldn't worry yourself over it, buddy ~ Domreis, please keep your information factual ~ as some of the info you give is somewhat misleading.
