is it possible to use a car amplifier with 4ohm car sub andf connect it to a home theatre reciever? or is it possible to use a 4ohm speaker with an 8-16ohm amp?
ok thanks so i guess i shouldnt use a car amp on my receiver. But what about a 4ohm woofer on an 8-16ohm amp?
not only will you lose sound quality, but you will over heat the amp and possibly fry it. use what is rated... meaning, if the amp can sustain a 4, 6, or 8 ohm load, then use accordingly. you would not want to burn down the house now would you ?
i would not suggest using car audio for home audio, too much hassle and the ohm's aint set up for either or.... really
yeah it has a dual voice coil. I have been reding on the net and i found a few websites with diagrams tha show you how you can change the OHMs by the way you wire the two terminals together i have tried that and they work fine so does the amp.
series, parallel, bi-amping, bi-wiring.... its all good stuff, but i would still stay away from running car audio stuff with home theater stuff... its just not a good combo..
