I've just bought a DVD writer today and about to go out and buy some DVD-R's. I've come to the conclusion that the new dual layer ones are too expensive for now so im going to tstick to the single layer ones. However, if I compress a film to a single disc will I lose the surround sound effects (will it goto 2.1 or 3.1)? I have a really good 7.1 surround system so maintaining sound quality is a must. If i spread a copy over two discs would it basically be identical to the original in everyway (including sound quality)? (with the possibility of tiny glitches as it is a copy afterall!) oh and as a 'PS' are all the menu features and subtitles etc copied over or is this dependant on what software i use? <- sorry about the last one im sure its in a guide just a quick question! thanks
Download dvd decrypter and dvd shrink(both free) and check out some guides. heres some to get you started. http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html these are very good guides for the newbie. Your sound wont suffer at all btw...all soundstreams that are on the dvd, you can have on your backup. good luck jD
