I've just bought a DVD writer today and about to go out and buy some DVD-R's. I've come to the conclusion that the new dual layer ones are too expensive for now so im going to tstick to the single layer ones.

However, if I compress a film to a single disc will I lose the surround sound effects (will it goto 2.1 or 3.1)? I have a really good 7.1 surround system so maintaining sound quality is a must.

If i spread a copy over two discs would it basically be identical to the original in everyway (including sound quality)? (with the possibility of tiny glitches as it is a copy afterall!)

oh and as a 'PS' are all the menu features and subtitles etc copied over or is this dependant on what software i use? <- sorry about the last one im sure its in a guide just a quick question!

    thanks
