sorry Scubapete, not guilty, i only discovered the safety valve a couple weeks ago.

It's maybe a good idea if areas such as safety valve would be excluded from post counts

@Pete, although this thread maybe used for "Getting Junior member fast" threads, I assure you that when I created this thread I just intended to inform everyone of my "accomplishment", the first reply was by Neph saying something to the effect of "You could reach Addict soon, Champ." (Sorry, I know this isn't exact Neph)
So, from there I just started updating everyone everyonce in a while. Other people started doing it as well and it got us where it is now.

@everyone else, thanks for the congrats and congrats to everyone one who is getting closer to "Member" "Senior" or "Addict" stats soon. All I ask is simply this:
Do NOT post (sorry, I know 99% of ya don't) meaning less posts just to boost your "Rank" or dRD may resort to the old way of promotion by Mod recommendation.

    Peace,

    Pop Smith

@ Pop, Creaky and the rest of those who are decent enough to refrain from childish posts - It's not to you I posted and you should know that -

Why do those with nothing to hide, defend themselves so much in the daylight ? The answer to that question we'll never know as it has been that way since the dawn of time -

To those others, know that we see you, here, and in other threads, posting one or 2 word posts page after page to boost your counts. If you think we don't see , let me tell you, we do. We see who posts in the "testing" thread, your names standout and the excuse of, "We were just testing." doesn't hold water after 50 PLUS posts.

You may get that which you so highly prize, a "tag" under your name BUT though it may say "Senior", you by no means are . . . you are childish and your recognition will come . . At one time, being a "Senior" mattered, know that you do nothing more than bring it down and those that deserve it will make you atone . .

    who cares,.......????
i certainly dont.i have said this before ,and i will say it again,
i personally couldnt give a monkeys ass what my status is/was,
it can be a pain the jacksee
    this is a forum,and a free one
what does it really matter what status you are,???
you are going to either know your stuff or you aint
if people want to boost the ratings up to senior/addict,then there is nothing anyone can do about it
i can understand where certain members are coming from, where they have been members for a long time, and put a lot of hours into this site to achieve the status they behold,
but times have changed i suppose, and so has this site
in the end there will be lots of seniors.but this site is massive, probably one of the biggest forums in the world,
and there will be lots of newbies,...to go round
that certain senior/addicts will feel almighty when replying to
and before anyone "quotes" me,i am not one of them
pls dont mis-interpret this post,as no injust is meant
and i am not trying to start something
so anyone who takes offence, just chill out

    with kind regards hursty

hursty stop getting defensive obviously you guys cant take a little ridicule and you have to get the juices following to prove how meaningless this all is.

Man i've been here since 2002, do you think i give a rats about the post count(still a senior), but scuba does have a point dont you think.Besides if you made the safety value, less attractive for the posters,

How the hell am i going to get my counts up with only posting inane junk threads. At this rate i will have the record (yes i'll knock baabaa off and finally have the record ........this year anyway...)

    @ andmerr,
it wasnt directed to you.....it was'nt directed to anyone

it just makes me laugh.i am not getting defensive, you may have mis-interpreted my post,i am not sure.?

it just amuses me how big a deal some are effected by the status they hold,or dont hold,
just look at tony blair or george bush, they are world leaders, and what are pair of bell-ends they are

    i would prefer no status.
    hehehe

    :)

    They demonstate what n00b's are

newbie, junior, senior and addict doesn't make a difference to me, what I respect is the answer of the post...and the question,if they did ther homework.

Of those posts maybe 40 of them were to Safety Valve and Feedback. I am still at Member status but that is not important, what is important is when I post and am able to be of help and the person says

I feel like I accomplished something, and that I am not posting just to post.

Arniebear has the right outlook on this. I made Addict shortly after this thread opened. I hadn't looked at my post count for about 6 months until this opened because it wasn't important anymore. I felt better about being PICKED as a senior member than making it to the top addict level. Just because I posted 2500 posts I'm one of the top dogs now. It really didn't bring the feeling of doing anything extra for the forum by getting there that way. I guess I do try to answer many questions and try to stay away from the useless type of posts we are talking about. I've used the testing thread maybe 4 times and don't use the forum as a chat room like many on here do. I may say HI to someone as an extra add on at the end of an answer I post. Last week I think I broke 3000 post count. That makes no difference to me either. I just do the best I can in answering questions and don't care one bit about the count anymore. It does kind of burn me to see the members BRAG about their count when I ( just like Pete said) also know where their count actually came from.

ok, @ andmerr's request I am posting another update but, with this I am asking for something for all of you that are reading this.
Can you do me a favor and (I will do it too, don't worry) only post an "update" every 10+ posts that are added to your "tally"? This will help cut down on the number of 'useless' posts on this thread; this will also show some "sportsmanship" on the thread.
