Hi all, I'm a newb so don't get mad if this is a stupid question.
I'm thinking of buying a receiver but I only have money for a 5.1 receiver. My question is that for movies that only have 6.1 or 7.1 surround audio, will a 5.1 receiver be able to process the codecs and send the output out to 5 speakers?
    Thanks in advance

    No problem at all.
When movies are encoded to 7.1, there is always a 5.1 "downmix" included, and often a dedicated 5.1 in addition to the 7.1 version.
    You'll be just fine.
