went to maplins for the cable . The guy said you need to take the box apart and disconnect the hard drive . he said i wouldn't now where to start on flash it >So it looks like a new box
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2RbdhH7_b4&feature=related maplins know dam all about boxes i think they will sell you the wrong cable also.
and dont forget if your pc has not got a rs232 connection you need the usb adaptor, and its very easy to do.
if they are off they will return if they where on before just leave your box alone could be any reason for it
I dont know if I have a faulty box or not but mine goes off every day. Some times if I unplug the lan for moment it will come back on but most of the time its off till I factory reset & scan & then thats on around 50% sucsesful. When it is on I do seem to have everything movs sports etc, I am in widnes & use use machester3 & get levels around 80-82%. Befor the last firmware i did have problems with the picture breaking up & rolling after around 15 min use so do you guys thing it may be a faulty box?
To be honest it sounds like it, contact your supplier if the box is less than 12 month and see if they can help, if the pic is rolling it could be a bad tuner bad the sounds of it
Can you do anything to increase signal.85-90 would be desirable. Replace any cables that may be dodgy. Connect KV-780 & router only, see will signal improve. If not paying basic TV subs could be cause of weak signal. Easy test for box is to connect in friend's house with better signal. Final option is to fac-reset box, Flash with latest firmware Jan/11 Then do on-line update 24/4/11. Then scan for channels, using correct area net-ID. When complete turn off router & box for 1 min., reboot router then box. If all this fails contact either supplier or Samaritans
Signal far to high on that 80% on both is fine to strong you will get break up and missing channels to low you will get same result
Beg to differ E, but signal below 85% leads to transponders missed during scanning & glitching particularly during peak viewing times. Am sure you've put a lot more KV boxes thru your hands than I have & I know every box is different, but I have a Dreambox running at 96% & it's sweet
Dreambox is totally different than a KV box totally different tuners over 83 / 85% cause break up etc the tuner on the Kv is nearly a match for the original cable box been used yes my DM works perfect on that signal as well but kv wont thats a defo Also remember they might have a great signal but quality could be crap as well that will also cause them problems both should be about the same, and as some dont even pay for cable that is the classic example of missing tp and glitching as they are using a split feed for the net as well, not all will suffer this depending if the freq is higher or lower mostly higher freq tend to suffer the worst
