There's no word from nvidia yet, don't expect it to be any time soon. I expect the 8800s to drop quite a bit when the 9000 series is released. I doubt the 8600,8500 etc will be affected very much initially, but who cares, they're cheap enough already!

Well the inquirer is rumoursville central, but that information looks realistic, albeit old. Outdated articles aren't really much use. It's only now the 1GB GDDR4 version of the HD2900 is out that ATi finally have a performance edge, so nvidia didn't have much to worry about until now.
The inquirer huh? Not exactly a trustworthy source. I'm hoping for a 150 dollar price drop on the 8800 GTX and I might be able to get one.
