your saying when you switch off your router and switch it back on the next day (thats connected to the server )the client that you have cant view any pay channels untill hours later .if you are using an ethernet cable (to connect the box to the router)try changing it as it may be faulty or damaged it would seem that your router is ok as your computer can connect to the internet fine .

Hi piopat, that is correct I dont think there is a problem with the cables router as I can access internet from the same line as both boxes and also can access both boxes using dcc. Also client working fine on local network. I'm going to start from scratch again with both boxes and see what happens

    Hi Guys,
Im new to this so please go easy on me.
I read the instructions in this thread but i cant quiet see how to get a dm500s to work with a Sky card inserted in it?

I have my own Sky card and a dm500s with edg-nemesis image on it.
For some reason Cccam isnt an addon option with it. but it does have Dccamd. Can i use this?

I've also tried digital-kaos's image and it has cccam as an addon option but when i attempt to install it by the blue button, the dm500s seems to restart and ccam is never installed

    Any help appreciated Guys please?
    Thanks
    John

ok, for starters i recommend pli image always for dm500. pli offer consistent support and have stable images. granted they will not have cccam loaded by default but this you can do using the blue buttton download. once this is done the next stage is to get the card working in the box. go to http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...release-dreambox-config-creator-v0-9-0-a.html which will generated the cccam.cfg file for you with your boxkey. once generated this file should be transferred into /var/etc/

    Thanks,
I've just installed Pli Jade (Lovely image by the way :) ) on 2xdm500s. Both seem to have cccam already on them as default cams.
So now im just waiting until the sky box is free for a while, so i can pop the card into a dm500s

So now i just run that software you linked as per the screenshots on that page, with my Serial and ip details?

What by the way is a 'hidden engineers menu'?

    The instructions say
'Simply enter your serial number from the hidden engineers menu and the util will generate the box key you require.'

gave you the link to get proper boxkey. have never used what you suggest. don't use pli jade for the simple reason that it is built for dm500 authentic boxes. use the chinese version where i have never seen such a menu?

Ah, so that software takes its input from the serial of the dm500s?
I thought the serial was something to do with the Sky card/box?

Ok so i need to input the serial from my dm500s, then create a boxkey file and ftp it to my dm500s. Then i just slot in the sky card and it should work fine?

Is there any convient way of organising all the channels? At the min i have 100s of crappy channels with no name attached to them. Is there a file i can dl and ftp to the dm500s to sort them all?

Well, i have created a cccam.cfg and uploaded it to /var/etc using the dream control centre, creating a boxkey using the 17 digit code on the under neath of my pace skybox.

Now, i think* i have cccam 2.01 set up to work correctly as the default cam, but PLI Jade is different to other images i've used and it seems to have 3 options for for cccam to use??

I've tried a restart etc but i cant get to view any of the Sky movies channels etc...

    Any help
    Thanks
    John

very close. as far as i remember i can never once remember a 17 digit code on a sky box, usually the number (by nature called the card number) is just a nine digit number. am i wrong?

Oh, so maybe cccam etc is working fine, but my box key has been creared from the wrong number?
Where do i get the card number from? Is it on the card?

dyndns look for an ip address on signup.
This i assume is my routers ip address that hits the outside world.
    How do i find it?

ipconfig /all just gives my laptops ip that dhcp from the router has assigned it...

As a by the way, i was thinking about using a payserver for a short period until i get my own card sorted. What is the feeling on this?

Just an update to my original post re flashed both boxes but had same problems. As cs was working on internal network I rechecked all portforwarding and dyndns settings all were good but still problem. I replaced my internet router and bingo everything working. Will put problems down to either a faulty router or incorect forwarding settings.
    Thanks for all the help

irishman glad to see your sorted anyway mate ,its in my experience more often a router problem (be it the port is not opened or otherwise)or their is a homeplugs/ethernet issue rather then the box . router and cables always first and reflashing last. but as i said glad your sorted mate enjoy.

Hello guys been running internal card sharing(own sly card) for many weeks now absolutely fine, tried external share with a friend on saturday and it worked a treat(thanks to piopats excellent tut)then my internal sharing went tits up(2dm500 upstairs) freezing glitching etc.i am using dm 800hd downstairs as server and 2 dm 500 upstairs internal share i use open media dongles as my pc is next door (granny flat)just wondering is it my router(netopia eircom)just isnt good enough or the open media dongles are overstretched.
    thanks in advance.
    Cheers/jack.............

are you sharing with someone local who is also on eircom ?,the reason i ask is i had a simillar problem in which i could share internaly fine and i gave a mate a share and his box glitched and froze badly. i noticed that when my brothers laptop was on at home my mates box glitched and froze and i came to the conclussion my mates box was on my network even tho he was in his own home about half a mile away .this may seem impossible but its true so i checked the ips i had set my devices and i checked my mates ip and sure enough his router had given his box the same ip as my brothers laptop ,all ips in my network are consecutive so i gave my mates box the next free ip in my network and problem sorted. of course i had to disable dhcp on my mates box and make his ip static for obvious reasons. of course this may not be your problem jack but its something you could check out.
