A NEWBIES GUIDE TO SETTING UP A DM500S FOR CARDSHARING

did you disable dhcp in communication setup in the box with the card in it ? ,if you dont disable dhcp the ip can change and if that happens the channels wont open . double check that the ip of the box with the card in it is the same as the ip in the c line ,and ensure that the username and password in the f line are the same as the username and password in the c line ,also double check that you deleted the # symbol at the start of both the f and c line .if the # symbol is not deleted the line wont work .

 

Thanks for the reply pio. Yes I've disable DHCP in both boxes and double checked IP addresses and username/password - all seems ok.

Both cccam files have the # removed - they read as follows:

[line 23] F: portland1 brook1 (main box with sky card)
[line 80] C: 192.168.0.50 12000 portland1 brook1 (box upstairs)

I'm not sure what else it could be I've even tried the oldest trick in the book and rebooted both boxes but still nothing upstairs. When I look at the full channel list, I don't get the ! symbol before the channel name, nor do I get the time when changing channels either. Ethernet connection definately up and box is responding on network.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

 

you dont need to disable dhcp in the box upstairs (only the box with the card in it )go upstairs and enable dhcp on the box as the router may not be able to see it. obviously make sure cccam is set as your default cam on both boxes ,as a test to see if cccam is set as your default cam bring the card upstairs and put it in the box (atleast the basic pay channels should open)your f and c line look fine as long as the ip your showing is the correct ip of the box with the card in it.

I bought the card upstairs, but not even seeing the free to air channels. Default cccam is 2.1.4 on both boxes. Besides the ethernet cable, do I need any other cable linking main box to upstairs?

I took the box downstairs and connected to sky dish and all ok, so i'm confident the box itself is configured correctly...

 

Sorry to intrude Balcee, I know you have gone thru tec details with Pio. Just want to make sure you have a few basic things right. You have LAN-cable from each box connected to router.
You have co-axial cable from each box connected to sat dish. I'm sure you have these right
it just wasn't clear in your post

 

as eamo said do you have a live satellite feed going to box 2 upstairs ? i dont think you have if your not even getting the free to air channels.

Cheers for your help last night guys. Both boxes working now I had a dodgy coaxial cable which I replaced.

Moving on to external sharing. I've created my dyndns account and installed the updater - so far so good...

I visited portforward.com and followed pio's instructions but it keeps forwarding me to a page to buy some software called pfconfig (for port forwarding) for $29. Just wanted to make sure this is what I need to do or if i'm going to the wrong page.

what this means is you will need to set your pc a static ip address simillar to what you did with the box with the card in it ,here are instructions for doing this on both windows xp and windows vista

now below where you see the setting a static ip stuff (thta you just did) you will see the instructions for opening a port on your router .once that stage is complete all being well your port should be open and people can share with you.

 

Brilliant stuff. Thanks very much for your help on this. I'm at the final stage now which involves creating the rule to open the port on my router. It says the following:

"Enter the ip address to forward these ports to into the Send to LAN Server box. If you are forwarding ports so you can run a program on your computer, you should enter your computer's ip address into that box."

When it says computer's ip address, I take it that means my main dreambox static ip address?

 

jicjoc, alias/hostname is jicjoc.dyndns.org and not jicjoc

 

balcee you need to enter the static ip address of the box with the card in it ,as this is the box people will be connecting to.

 

Aargh! This is really frustrating me I'm using a c: line that my friend gave to me to test. I put it on GOLD channel. It made a funny noise then the screen went multi coloured.

Switched off box, waited a couple minutes and restarted. Now the power light comes on but the box doesn't respond to the power button or remote.

I think I'll call it a night...

 

it sounds like you may have a dodgy scart,try a differant one that you know thats good.

 

Think it's null modem & reflash box. Does your friend have F-line set up on his box for C-line
he gave you or were you trying to re-share c-line he got from server. You cannot re-share c-line unless re-share is set up in server box

 

Dodgy scart would not prevent box responding to remote or power button, Jackooh

 

ok folks anyone help me out here,a mate of mine got himself the D/M 500s.i helped him set it up,he got a test line and all worked fine.he is with sly and does not have the movies or sport but he does have the rest.if he places his sly card in the box should he be able to watch his discoverys ,uk gold,etc.i thought he should but he cant,

 

You will have to enable box to use s*ycard, you need boxkey of s*ybox.
Download NDS boxkey generator, enter 15 digit ser. no. from back of s*ybox.
This will give you boxkey, go to Cccam/cfg in DM500s menu & scroll to line BOXKEY
Remove numbers in boxkey line & replace with new boxkey nos.
Save, exit & reboot box to effect changes
