Not free, but a low monthly cost. all the info is at the start of this post (first 4-5 pages)

Depends on your needs. Will you want HD? Do you want to record while watching another channel? Do you need to buy a dish or do you already have one?
Depending on the answer to these it can range from €60 to €300/€400.

100% Legal if you only want Freeview channels (BBC, Ch4, ITV etc), but 100% Illegal if you go behond this like Sly premium channels.

Again depends on what your needs are. The DM500s is a great box for starting off with. Its cheap and is well supported.

Is this for a DM500. Sounds interesting. Have you ever used WeekEPG 3.2b? if so, is it better?

Works on Darkstar II image. Can store upto 7-days. However, wont store locally on box, have mine using PC's hard drive. Its far from perfect, bud does give you full listings tru yellow button. If you are interested, just google "Weekepg 3.2b"

Hi guys Having problems with port forwarding I have been running my server (dm 800 pro, I have got review about it not being the best for server), for a few weeks and every now and then my friends lose channels and when I test my port with open port tool it says "timed out. This typically indicates that traffic to that port is being actively blocked by either a firewall or your ISP"
The fact that it was going of and on it's got me thinking that it may be my belkin router and not my ISP I'm considering buying a linksys or Cisco router cause I've read good reviews about them for Cs. I've got another dm800 in the house the C line is an external one as in
C:name.dyndns.net 8**** home1 home 2. So it an external share and it's working but all my proper external share are not. where is the weakest link the dm 800 server, Belking router, ISP NTL(cable)Could they be blocking my ports.

Update I reset router as in, I used a screwdriver to reset it from small hole in back of router as against just powering off from power switch, and all is ok again so the Router seems to be the problem everything is fine in set up to the best of my knowledge so I'm going to have to buy a linsys or cisco replacement.

either version will update your card ,however it wouldnt be any harm to pop the card back in the sly box (over night ) once a fortnight or once a month as a precaution .

do a speed test on his broadband and see what level the PING is when you do it .if its any higher than 170 ms this can cause the picture to break up . your best to do the test in the evening time when there is congestion on the B/B line.the B/B provider makes no difference but your PING level is very important for your box to run smoothly.check your own as well and see if there is much of a difference. most B/B ping are between 50/90 but you can often get one thats very high

I,m struggling to get another dm500s connected on the lan to my server box, when all the remote boxes are working perfectly. Do i need to do anything differently?

Currently using a linksys router with folloing ips: 192.168.1.1 (router), 192.168.1.100 (server box), 192.168.1.4 (2nd box) and 192.168.4.1 (name sever).

I have tried using either dydns address, router ip address or server box ip address box but without luck.

your nameserver ip 192.168.4.1 is wrong ,it should be the same ip as the router ,gateway should also have the same ip as the router .

many different issues. so from the top

reswob, its not possible to setup an external share the same way an internal share works. you simply cannot lift an internal box and expect it to work externally. the cline changes from c: internalipaddress port username password no to c: externalipaddress port username password no

so-cool: cccam does not require you to take card out of system to update entitlements if you are using cccam 2.1.3 or later on central system. Reason you time out is because you have dynamic ip address. \it is not the fault of the router. Buy a static ip address

buggu, is dm500s internal or external to lan

Fintanni both dm500s are on the same internal lan, one is used as the server with the card in it and the other i,m trying to connect from.

piopat i have tried changing the nameserver ip to that of my router(ie 192.168.1.1) on both boxes by diasbling dhcp but still no luck.

jken ping times are ok thanks.fintannl you have me confused.i am not sharing with him.he got the C line of some forum.i simpley flashed and set the box up for him.the C line is now working fine he has all channells but the jumping still persists.when we plug the box in and switch it on the first five mins it is perfect but then it starts a savage jump from left to right of the screen every two seconds.i am going to take my box around to his house today and see what happens.will report later...

buggu you need to enable dhcp and let the router see the dreambox ,then the settings in communication setup should match the routers settings .you only need to disable dhcp on the server box (the box with the card in it )there is no need to disable dhcp on the client box . also you dont need dyndns for an internal share which is what you have ,all you need is the server box ip .example
C:(ip of server box) 12000 box2 bedroom (this goes into cccam.cfg in the client box )
F: box2 bedroom (this goes into cccam.cfg in the server box )

Hi guys. Wonder if anyone can help. My brother has a DM500 which he's sharing my cline. It's more of an inconvenience than a fault as such, but when he changes channels (subscription channels), he gets a cccam box on his screen for around 3-4 secs showing the following

    system : nds
    camd : *****
    server : ******
    provider : *****
    pid : ******
    server : ******

Obviously, I've blanked all the data but is there anywhere in the cccam config file on the box I can change to stop this box from appearing? It only shows up on the pay channels.
