Think that you may need to re flash it with a new image or the same image that you were using but downloaded from a different source.

I wouldn't know, I would suggest using the same image as before as you got to the point of finding your way around it and knowing what you were doing.

there is a working nabilo image for a dm600 that you can download from link number 1 of my signature area ,but you will need to pop an uptodate satellite.xml file into var/etc and thats easily done and installing cccam with that image is easy .

Hi piopat, am new to this dreambox forum and am thinking of buying a dreambox and i was wondering if you could give me some advice on which one to buy(dreambox HD or SD). if you give me link i will purchase which ever one you recommend and try to set it up using your guidlines. You mention something about buying a c line from a payserver which i think will be a problem for me because i don't know anyone with a server. Please do you know anyone with a server that i can purchase a c line from. Am in galway, Thanks

hi mate the box you buy would depend on a few things such as your budget but also what you would like from your box or what the box is capable of .

if your on a budget and your not fussed about hd (high definition ) then the dm500s is ideal and very reasonably priced ,its pretty basic as it is a budget box with it will give you all the free channels plus all the pay tv channels (with a c line ) ,you can easily add bouquets to it and with some images (an image is the tv software ) you can get a half decent epg . dealextreme are good suppliers of the dm500s and the only charge $74 dollars which is about €52 here is a link
    http://club.dealextreme.com/forums/Forums.dx/Forum.29102~threadid.409095

if your on a budget but would like hd (high definition ) you might consider the openbox s9 hd (also called skybox s9 and solomend ),it can be used with a c line and its hd and it comes in at about €100 or a little under .

really if you tell us your budget and what you expect from your box such as being able to record /having hd /epg guide etc im sure we can offer you advice .

you will need to change the image to gemini or another image to get a better epg .

well you can get a better epg with gemini images but they have disabled the function where you can install a cam such as cccam using the remote ,so it as to be done manualy using dream control center to send the cam to the box .

pli images allow you to install cams via the remote in fact they (well of the two images i tried )one installed cccam by default but that may not be the case for all pli images .

the other guys may recommend another image which may better suit your needs .

Thanks for your reply and pm piopat. I have about 150euro to spend on a box and i would love to have hd channels but tell me do i still have all the free channels with this openbox s9? I want a box that can record, having hd and epg guide. Am not very good with this computing stuff so my big question is are there technical support for the openbox s9 hd like the support you are providing for the dm500s and is the setup of the openbox s9 similar to that of dm500s? One more thing,i mainly want channels from hotbird satellite. I want a box that will not be too problematic in terms of technical support. If the openbox s9 hd is good then i will like to buy it and get started. Your advice is very much appreciated.

yes mate you always have all the free to air channels no matter what ,it is hd and from what im aware of the hd quality is excellent .

it is a pvr box (so is capable of recording )but i dont know if it comes with a hdd (hard disk drive )as standard so you need to ask the supplier about that . you have to keep in mind this is a budget box so i wouldnt be expecting a box with all the features of a sky box .

there seems to be reasonably good support for the openbox but i would say not on the scale of the support the dm500s gets .you say you mainly want hotbird channels so by that i assume you either have a dual lnb setup or a motorised dish ,i know the box supports diseqc for multiple sats but i dont know if the box is suitable for use with a motorised dish (maybe other members can answer that question ).

also if you want to recieve pay channels from multiple satellites your c line needs to cover those satellites .

Will it be possible to use one lnb if i only need signals from hotbird. I have a regular 60cm dish and am trying to avoid installing a bigger dish.

yes but you need to have the dish pointed at hotbird ,depending on the general area where you live you might get away with a 60 cm dish as the hotbird signal is quite strong .

The dish is pointed at hotbird at the moment but i was thinking of installing a motor so that i can have more channels when i get a c line but am not sure if the motor will work with 60cm dish with one lnb.

well if your recieving channels now on the dish with a reasonably good signal level you should be fine ,but if your wanting to install a motor an 80cm dish is probably advisable .
