if your box is password protected yes you will have to reflash the box in order to reset the password ,you will need an image suitable for a dm518s and then you can simply follow the instructions at the start of this thread on how to flash the box .

Thx for your help on this. I am home alone on Monday for a week so I will give it a go then. In the meantime I have a legit Sky setup in the conservatory so at least I will still have something, even if it is a basic package. I will let you know how I get on anf if I have any problems. I am as newbie as can be on this. As a late thought, what if the box isn't password protected?

the chances are that it is password protected but you may get lucky ,as a test follow my instuctions in the tutorial on how to setup dream control center and see if your asked for a password if you are not then its not password protected but if your asked for a password you have to reflash .

Piopat, if I received a cline like this:

    C: anyone.dyndns.org 12000 anyuser anypass no { 0:0:2 }

from a m8 it shows I can reshare it, what would the C line look like i would give to another m8 plus what would be my F line? Hope this post does not break any rules.

thanks for your input,i registered with both sites but found it hard to navigate through them because i wasn't cleared to do so. I found a site: www.dm800sim2.com(don't have to register) and i d/l sim 2.01-ssl82.nfi from it.Worked! and now have the free to air channels so on to next step!
    cheers,
    atg

hi mate in order for you to be able to reshare to another mate you would need to open a port on your router ,and you would need to open a dyndns.com account and setup a dyndns hostname .

you can find instructions on opening a port and setting up a dyndns host name at the start of this thread .lets assume you have opened a port (lets say the port you opened is the default cs port 12000) the next step is you need a dyndns hostname to get that you need to register with dyndns.com and then you go about creating your dyndns hostname .

an explaination about dyndns hostnames ,if you were just wanting to share to a box or boxes in your own home (internal sharing )you would just use the ip address of the box with the card or c line in it (this box is called the server)example the box with the c line or card in it has an ip of 192.168.1.100 an internal c line would start with C:192.168.1.100 12000 username password , however for external sharing you would replace the server ip address with the dyndns hostname you created .

lets say you chose chris9999 as your dyndns hostname (and everyone gets an extension such as .org ,but you can choose the extension )your c line would look a little like this
C:chris9999.dyndns.org 12000 username password , the username and password can be anything example C:chris9999 12000 mike share1 all you have to do is then ensure the f line contains the same username and password ,here is an example of a simple f line
F:mike share1 .i hope that helps you understand a bit better but dont be afraid to ask questions if you have any .

Hi M8 I have a dyndns account and a port opened for it plus I know about c and f lines but I just want to know when a m8 gives you a cline like this C: anyone.dyndns.org 12000 anyuser anypass no { 0:0:2 } the 2 at the end allows me to pass a share on, what would the Cline look like I passed on and what would my Fline look like. Thanks in advance, Chris

thats what i said in my last post mate ,you wouldnt give your mate the c line you were given (or a modified version of it )you have to give him your c line which contains
C:your dyndns host name (the port you opened )username password and once you put an f line into your box with the same username and password as you have in the c line you gave your mate he will be able to recieve the channels you have .

Just a bit lost here m8 if I give 1 share (cline) into my card to each of the following:

    Steve
    Dave
    Charles

Then Steve gives me a share into his card plus 1 to give out, how do I give Dave the spare share from Steve and not Charles?

ok you would need to give 3 c lines one to each person like this example
    C:(your dyndns host name)12000 steve share1
    C:(your dyndns host name)12000 dave share2
    C:(your dyndns host name)12000 charles share3

in your box you would also need 3 f lines one for each person like this example
    F:steve share1
    F:dave share2
    F:charles share3

the above f lines are basic but will work fine ,to each f line you can add
F:steve share1 3 0 0 {0:0:1) the only part that matters here is the 1 at the end that means this person has one share only and cant share with anyone else .

now you want to know how to give dave access to steves card but not charles ,well as steve is only allowing you only one reshare if you gave dave the first c line charles then wouldnt be able to recieve steves channels .

what that means is the payserver has given you a cccam.cfg file complete with c line as opposed to just a c line ,this is not a problem and is easily sorted ,save the cccam.cfg file thats in the email on your pc . i assume your box is a dreambox, you need to use dream control center (if you dont have dcc setup you will have to set it up first but for now i will assume you have it setup )so open dream control center and click on ftp (bottom left of screen ) then you will see 2 boxes . the box on the left contains files in your box and the box on the right contains files in your pc and inbetween the boxes you will see 2 little arrows one pointing left the other pointing right .

in the box on the left double click on var ,then double click on etc ,now scroll down to where you see cccam.cfg and click on it once to highlight ,now right click on cccam.cfg and you will see options such as view /edit/ delete (click on delete )now your half way there .

now look in the box on the right and find the cccam.cfg file you paid for and click on it once to highlight it , now look between the two boxes and click on the little arrow pointing left ,the cccam.cfg file should now be in the box on the left so your work is done . now exit dcc and either retstart cccam or reboot the box (make sure your box is connected to the internet ) and then try a pay channel .

Hi guys, got a few dm500s boxes this week and getting a sly card to split between a few mates and family. first time to set this up but I'm very technical so shouldnt be a problem (hopefully!)

great posts pio, very helpful and easy to read.

I have one box to act as server in my house, all boxes will have Pli jade 3 and cccam 2.2.1, anyone have any thoughts on this image?

I will have another dm500s internally in the house to watch on and I will be setting up some external for my dad and brother. is it worth the few quid extra to get the Openbox S9 HD PVR instead of the dm500 for them?

buying the openbox depends on if you have a hd subscription ,if you dont you wont really get any benifit as all most all hd channels are scrambled . on the other hand if you have a hd sub you could invest in dm800 hd for the server and use openboxes as clients .

if you only have an sd sub the dm500s will suffice as will the image and cam ,however you should read up on oscam also as you may have to change and use that in the future as opposed to cccam .you would only need oscam in the server box cccam will be fine for the clients .

cheers mate, do you have a link to read up on the oscam?

I will be sharing a sly card to a few family and friends, I will have two boxes internally in my house. the dm500 will be the server.

one person told me to leave the server box for sharing only as if im watching tv on it it will slow performance and affect external people sharing from this box, I was advised to leave the server for sharing only.

another person told me it wouldnt make any difference, what do you recommend, setup the server for sharing only or setup the server and use it also as my main tv?

you should be able to watch channels on your server absolutely fine and it will in no way affect your clients .the only time it would affect the clients is if you had the server switched off .
