Lads I'm having trouble getting the dreamup software to register the box using the instructions on this thread, When I click connect the info box remains empty. I have tried all ports from com1 to com10. when i turn on the box it picks up a dm500 so there is obviously a connection between the two but it wont allow me to flash the box.
    Any help appreciated....

Are you using a usb to serial adaptor? Did the adaptor come with a disc to install on your pc? if you got no disk you will have to go online and download a suitable driver, it should be noted that any pc that runs on windows vista may have problems when it comes to flashing a box with the adaptor as vista has compatability problems with a lot of drivers. Or you will need to get to a desktop computer running windows xp as these will have an rs232 socket.

My laptop has xp. and the driver was installed from the disc the came with the converter. Driver is definite working for the converter as when switch the box on it logs the time and that the box is a dm500 but after this nothing else happens.

When you are connecting the box to your pc with null modem cable is your box powered off?

By who? check and see if there is an image on it, it will only take a few minutes.

I can only think of 2 things that may be wrong

    1. either your cable is not a null modem cable or you need a different one
    2. download a different version of dreamup

Tried about 8 versions of dreamup. Might be a shoddy convertor.

Really confused. Must be some signal coming through the cable/convertor as when I switch on power log reports a dm500. so assumptions: drivers of, cables ok?

Have used several different versions of dreamup, assumption: dreamup ok?

Havent got to the stage of image, assumption: image not the problem.

Have tried everything I can think of, assumption: i'm the problem!!

    Hi,

I've downloaded versions 1.2.2, 1.3.2.1, 1.3.3.2, 1.3.3.6 and noe of them have worked.

I read a fair bit that the usb-232 convertors can be very problematic doing flashes to the dm500?

    Hi,
    I haver a question please.
I have flashed my image and scanned.
I have loads of channels but they don't seem to be in any order and the chaannel numbers don't match the chennel numbers on my Sky bos. i.i. Sky News is not 501.
Can't seem to find an option to sort them properly.

    Thanks,

    Besty

Create your own bouquet and sort them that way.

the numbers are based on channels scanned. as dub12dave says use bouquets. to get the best bouquets go to www.satellites.co.uk dreambox support forum. you will need to use dreamboxedit to set the channels in the way you wish. dreamboxedit can be found for download on the same site
