its hard to say mate but I thought you said it was ok in an earlier post but with the exception that it just wasn't being seen in your network .if that's the case the box may be ok but still have corrupted image or images in it . try dreamup one last time mate and do a flash erase 3 or 4 times in a row just in case there are still flashes in there , I mean you flashed 3 times and I assume it had an image before that so get rid of any images on there it wont do any harm doing a flash a erase .

what images have you been using ? I have two dm500 images in my signature area (in the first link ) nabilo maxvar v8 and pli and both work fine so its worth erasing 3 or 4 times and trying one of them .

if you tried another box (that works perfectly in another house) but wont work in yours well I think its safe to say the problem is your dish .any major obstruction to the dish will cause problems .

One issue is how come the Black Box worked perfectly at the beginning?- surely the obstruction would have caused problem immediately?

hi mate don't forget its summer so the leaves and branches on the tree will have been growing . if the tree is yours try trimming some branches back (that are directly in line with your dish)if its not your tree you have to ask your neighbour if its ok . the only other option is to move the dish to where its not obstructed .

you probably need an up todate satellite.xml file for your box (that contains all the latest frequencies ) or the other option is a set of bouquets , neither of these is hard to do .we can help you here .

ok mojo mate , the first thing to do is click on the first link in my signature area (that's near the bottom of my posts )in that link you will see lots of files and programs that you can download . download dreambox control center , and when that's downloaded look for the file called satellite.xml and download that .

just to explain the satellite.xml file contains all the frequencies for all the channels , your box already has one of these files but its obviously missing a lot of frequencies , so what we will do is replace your old satellite.xml file with my new one . once you have put the new satellite.xml file into your box do a channel scan and after that all the missing channels should return .

ok you need dream control center to put the file into your box , basicly dream control center is a program that allows you to access files in your box and edit them but also it allows you to put new files into your box and that's what we want to do .

so download dream control center and then download the satellite.xml file . the dreambox control center progam is a .zip file so you have to unzip it (very simply put a large program is put into a zip file to make it smaller and that makes it easier and quicker to upload and download ) so you have to unzip it (to unzip means to open the zip file and extract the program inside it which in this case is dream control center . if you have flashed your box yourself you probably will be familiar with opening zip files but if your not you need to get someone to unzip the file for you .

so now for the next part I will assume that you have downloaded the files I mentioned above and that you have unzipped dream control center , and you need to have your box connected to your broadband router using an Ethernet cable . so the next part is to open dream control center and to set it up so you can use it .

when you open dream control center it will look like the above picture , in the above picture the text is in german but you will see a picture of a computer and a picture of a dreambox and the words netwzwerk nicht ok and there is a thick red line between the pictures of the computer and box . now what we want to do is to first add a picture of a router to the pictures of the computer and dreambox , and then we need to get a thick green line joining all three pictures.

we need to add a picture of a router to those two pictures . so to the left of the picture of the computer you will see the words connection type and a few options like hub, crossover and router choose router by clicking on the word router ,now if you look you should have 3 pictures and it should look like this

now look below the picture of the dreambox and you will see search (click on search ) and then a box will appear like this

on the top left corner of that box you will see the word search again (click on it), dream control center will now be searching for your dreambox ip address. when the search is complete you should see one ip address in the box (some times dream control center also finds your router ip so you may see two or more ip addresses)like this

if you only see one ip address double click on that ip address to accept it ,now where it said search below the picture of the dreambox it now has an ip address so this part is now done. now go through the same process I just explained above with the router picture to find the router ip address . when you have an ip address under the picture of the computer and under the picture of the router look just below the picture of the computer and click on reconnect ,now all being well you should see a thick green green line going between all 3 pictures and a bit of text saying network ok like this .

all being well after you followed my instructions above what you see on your pc screen will be the same as the picture just above and that will mean dream control center is set up perfectly and your finished with this part , it may sound a long process the way I write it here but really its very quick taking only a minute or so really . but if you get a red line saying network not ok this means one of the ip addresses is wrong , when you clicked on search under the picture of the dreambox if you saw two ip addresses you need to go back and click on search under the picture of the dreambox and then click on the second ip address , then look under the picture of the computer and click on reconnect and then hopefully you will have a green line and network ok .

the last part is to send the satellite.xml file into your box . so open dream control center and it should say network ok , now look in the bottom left corner and you should see FTP (click on that ) , now you will see two large boxes of files like this

you will see 2 boxes of files in the picture above .the box on the left contains files in your dream box and the box on the right contains files in your computer and in between those two boxes are two little green arrows , one arrow points left and the other points right .

ok look in the box on the left and find the file called VAR and double click on it to open it , then look for the file called ETC and double click on that .

now look in the box on the right (this box contains files in your computer )find the satellite.xml file that you just downloaded and then click on it once to highlight it , now look between the two boxes and click on the little arrow that points to the left .

now you may get a message that says THIS FILE ALLREADY EXISTS DO YOU WANT TO OVER WRITE IT ? if you see that message say yes , now look in the box on the left and all being well you should see the satellite.xml , if you see the file that's it your work is done and you can close dream control center . then go to your box and do a channel scan and again all being well all missing channels will have returned . let us know how you get on mate .

its not really techy mate , I understand it probably looks that way and it probably looks a long process when you look at the size of my post , but one of the main reasons my post is so long is to explain it and make it as easy as possible to understand .

the first part only involves downloading two files , and only one of them needs opening and that's dream control center , downloading only takes seconds as does opening the file .

the longest part of the above process is setting up dream control center , again that looks long because of the size of my instructions but its not it should be do done in under 2 minutes and a minute of that is used up by dream control center searching for ip addresses , so its not really that long and that part is quite easy .

the only other part is using dream control center to put your file into your box , this is simply that you have a file in location A and you want to pick it up and put it in location B . the hardest part of working on any box is having the confidence to work on it , if you don't have that confidence then you wont work on it and you wont get to do what you need to do . trust me theres no easier or quicker way to do what you need to do to your box . so the more you put it off the more channels will disappear , your worried that if you do any work on the box that you will lose your channels but your losing them any way by doing nothing .

I know its not easy when your doing some thing for the first time but weve all had to start some where and I know it always seems very hard when your reading it but once your actually doing it you will see its not that hard after all and far quicker to do than it looks in my instructions , but once you've done this you will have learned a great deal . you see you only set up dream control center one time (unless you change your box ) so after this you can connect to your box any time , then you can do many things with your box including adding a c line . I promise you that you can do it , just take your time go slowly , read everything I posted twice , and once you have set up dcc and put the file in your box you will be thinking wow that was easy is that all there is to it , but you will also have that great feeling of knowing you did it ,you fixed your box and that's a good feeling .

Hi piopat, I'm setting up a new Vu+ solo2 box for the first time. I followed your tutorial for setting up a dm500. Everything thing went well, I can get all FTA channels but no scrambled ones. I have FTP'ed both a c line and a n line, which I know are both working on my Blade bm7000s box. When I go into CCcam.cfg they are both there (I copied and pasted them from my email). Is there annything else I have to do to activate these lines to receive scrambled channels. Any help will be very much appreciated?

hi cagey well have you installed cccam and set it as your default cam ? if you didn't install a cam its not going to work , if you've installed a cam but not set it as your default cam that will stop the line working aswell .

you mention aswell that the lines are working in the blade well is the blade connected up to the router at the same time as the vu ? if both boxes are connected up at the same time with the same lines in them they will cancel each other out line wise .

piopat you're a star. I hadn't set the CCcam (2.2.1) to default. Once I did that everything is fine. Yes,I made sure I disconnected lines from blade before connecting to Vu.
Once again thanks very much for your guidance.

Hi piopat, when I setup this VU+ box I was using the C line that I was using on my blade box which worked fine. I want to use both boxes, so bought another line from a different server which is an N line, but I can't get it to work, is there any thing different I have to do to get it to connect. I transferred it to my box via FTP, copy and paste from the email I received. Any advice please.
