After recently reformating my computer, I have not been able to play F.E.A.R. This has never happened to me before. I have updated my video card and drivers but every time i try to start it up I get an error saying that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have gotten patches and have tryed many things but none have worked. Can someone please help?

The instalation of the game could have been bad. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. If that does work check the physical properties of the disk for dust, scratches or smudges.

Well, I have cleaned my disc and have reinstalled it. Still keeps occuring. This same thing also happens when I try to play F.E.A.R. Combat.

mininja, have you tried updating your sound card and chipset drivers? Some games might crash not only because your graphics card drivers are outdated..

Just one thing, what are your current computer specs?

    Cheers
